Oxycontin withdrawal

I've been taking Hydro's for years and Got off of them for awhile and found Oxycontin. I get a couple 80mg's and just take half a day, so around 40mg's per day. I've been taking them for about a month straight now. I don't know much about the withdrawal from them. If it's exactly like Hydro withdrawal, but my question is is that strong strength I'm taking per day and will I have extreme wd's?

Thanks in advance for all your help! :o )

First off, you are not a loser. You need to adjust to a more positive attitude. It will help you through this, okay?

Secondly, no...no...no...Oxy withdrawal is NOT like Heroin withdrawal. I know people call Oxy "Hillbilly Heroin" and I do understand the similarities but Heroin is my DOC and I have been through both withdrawals. I cannot compare the two. Heroin was the worst for me.

Believe me, you will not suffer that bad and if you get it going now, in a few days you will be past the physical part. Do you have any plans for aftercare? Or, what are you going to do different this time to STAY clean?

You may also want to re-set your tracker so you can watch your progress. It's those little milestones that add up to the big ones. Stick around hun, we are here to support you!!

Yes I did post a few days ago, but have not started the withdrawal yet. As much as I sound like a loser even to myself right now. I had 3 more pills left( which I should have just thrown out, I know) and was preparing myself for when they were gone which is today. I'm not planning to buying more pills.

I just freaked myself out reading online about Oxy. I guess i'm an idiot for taking these pills blindly and just reading it's like heroin. Ive pretty much been on heroin. WTH? I've really lost myself. I just wanted to know if this is was going to be a harder detox.

Thanks for the help! You guys are always awesome!. I'll stop asking and start doing... I'll keep you posted. I'm sure I'm not going to feel it until tomorrow. :(

I think the withdrawal will be similar but do it now. It's just a month so you may squeak by!

I wouldn't worry so much about the withdrawal. Think about how you're going to stay away from these!

Hi Hun,

You posted a few days ago and said you had started the withdrawal already so I am a bit confused. Here is the post just so you know why I am saying this:

http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Addiction-Substance-Abuse/I-really-messed-up/show/1474639?personal_page_id=258323#post_6705553

So I guess I am asking---did you start the withdrawal process yet? Okay, well either way---40 mgs a day is not that high of a dose compared to some and it doesn't seem that you have been on them long. I don't think you will notice much difference in the way of withdrawal. It should not be extreme really. So if you haven't started it, I suggest you do so. the longer you stay on, the worse it gets. And---just for reference, the more you detox and go back, and detox and go back, the harder it becomes. It takes a toll on you mentally and physically.

Let us know what is going on.

BTW, don't mind me. I have been sitting here for a while today which I haven't done in some time and I think I am getting computer screen silly! LOL
