Scared of pain meds after surgery

Hi everyone I am 186 days clean from hydrocodone. I am having a hysterectomy on Monday and I'm so scared of the meds now. I know I will need them for a few days but I"m scared that they will make me feel "normal" again.I still haven't found that yet after all this time being clean. Please pray for me to have the strength not to abuse the meds again.

I will pray for you tonight, If you have been clean that long, I think you will have a lot more mental power than you are aware of. Like Sals said just have someone hold them for you and take them as needed. Good Luck:-)

Hi Mama, I hope that everything goes smoothly with your surgery.  Have someone hold your pain medication for you and only take as prescribed for only the time that you need it - then get rid of the rest.  It should not set you back if taken for a legitimate reason and as prescribed.  All the best.
