I have a problem

I don't post much as most of my concerns and questions are answered in previous post, however I am in a situation I haven't seen. I stopped vicoden on fathers day after weaning for about a week. I have had all the normal WD symptons, with a headache and fatigue beung the worst. I am on hight BP medication, but don't have any other Med problems and very active. For the last few days my heart has been racing and head pounding has increased. Finally took my BP after a night out last night and it was 172/115. Although I have had this headache since I stopped the pills, it seems to get worse after exercise. I had such anxiety and head was hurting so bad, I took a vicoden, plus another half to ease things. Within 1 hour my BP was back down. I DON'T want to get back in the cycle of these pills, but not sure what to do. I must mention I am hight in the mountains for the summer and going to a hospital or Dr. is not easy. Sorry to be so long winded, but has anyone else had this happen. I can take the WD's, but this head pounding is unbearable. Thanks for any input.

I think you need to see a doc...Is there an am/pm clinic or er around...Blood pressure on meds is way too high.  I have been told my doc the pain stuff lowers it a little however go get this issue checked out by a doc ASAP.....My thought is that does not sound normal...

Post on how you do....

Hi-  You really need to be checked by a physician. That's a very high B/P and it's dangerous.  The headache and rapid HR are serious indicators of a problem. Don't procrastinate!!

Also, if you're serious about quitting the pills, thay can't be in your home...

Good Luck-

I am going to do that today. It is a long drive to a larger town, but it had me freaked last night. The mystery is that when I took the vic, it was like putting a fire out. Heart slowed, BP dropped (still high, but much lower). I am just wondering if this is a part of detox with someone who has BP issues? Thanks so much for input.

Thanks Vicki, I am going to try for a clinic today. I was afraid to flush my pills when I started detox on fathers day cause if I ran into trouble with pain (getting over a hysterectomy from a few months ago), I would not have access to a Dr. Trust me, I do not want to get back into the place I was with them. I am now afraid to flush cause of the episode last night. If I can get with a Dr., I think my anxiety will ease. So appreciate your thoughts here.

I have BP issues however I think that sounds to me like a greater issue not involved with withdrawal...bad headache can signal stroke or very high blood pressure....Could be artery block also had buddy that waited all night with heart issues instead of going to ER as I told him next day had triple bypass emergency surgery....He got lucky almost died...This is nothing to mess with....All the best hope ya feel better

Good Morning Sam and Sarah, Thank you so much for your wise words and sound concern. I did find an Urgent Care kinda place about 1+ hour from here and was happy to see it opened till non yesterday. Bottom line, BP still was high and he precribed a beta blocker in addition to the bp med I was already taken. He said he wasn't sure if the intense headache caused the spike in BP, or the BP caused the intense headache. Without a complete work up at the ER, we won't know. Anyway....and you'all will chuckle at this one. He offered me pain meds for the headache in case it happens like that again. (I declined). He also gave me a rx for ativan for the heart racing and told me when I get back home post summer to see a cardioligist ASAP. Feeling better, but those couple vic's defin messed with my progress. Oh well, todays a new day. How is all with you both?

I have a BP gaget that I got last year when a chiro  sent me to the ER cause he said my BP was thru the roof. I secretly thought it was just because I hadn't taken my viciden that am and it caused it to jump for that day? I am very petite and high BP doesn't run in my family, anyway, I did get checked and bought a machine to monitor it when I'm away. How are your symptoms now? What has you most uncomfortable and what has ceased? I just got some valerium root yesterday as many said that calms things? Keep up the good work, your doinf AMAZING!
