Just wanted to offer you my support and encouragement! Cigs, for me, were hard to give up, probably because they are so accessible. One thing that really helped me control the cravings were cinnamon toothpicks. I always carried them with me. Good luck to you in your new journey!! Take care...
Hi again PB. I am considering doing the very same thing. I've been a 1 1/2 to 2 packs a day smoker since well forever. About 17 years. I'm all excited and hyped about it but also scared the stress might lead me to a pill bottle. Not that I HAVE any access to pills, but addicts usually find a way. I'm nowhere near being ready to quit smoking but I have some patches handy when the time comes. I wish you the best with it as nicotine is a bugger of a habit break. At least for me it is! -Bonnie-
Frogger, that's twice today I heard someone housed tooth picks (ment and now cinnamon)
Bonnie, quitting does scare me, I don't want it to make me want pills
Hands down congrats on the recent VICTORY!! but before you tackle the next mountain maybe think about giving yourself some time maybe another 30 days or so you could end up having a hard time dealing with both chems out of the system at the same time.
Hey PB I've been working on quitting about 2 weeks now. I haven't given up but honestly not very good at it. I called the quit smoking hotline. An idea they gave me was cut straws up same size of cigarette chew on it. Other is bubbles that kids use get your own bottle blow bubbles everytime want a smoke. Patches help but way more expensive than cigarettes. Here in California if your Dr will write rx for them you can get free. In my case my effen Russian Dr refuses to do anything. Anyway I'm pulling for you
Hey PB nice move!! I quit about 5 yrs ago due to health. I now have REAL BAD nerve pain in feet. The smoking did a number on my blood flow. Had 8 operations because I was all clogged up. Anyway I feel so much better off of them and it's nice to go somewhere without checking to see if smoking is allowed. Anyway I had smoked 2 packs a day for 60 yrs. I quit CT nothing made it any easier. I'm a very weak person so if I could do it I know you can. Just don't wait till health reason make you quit
I had 2 this morning, I know I need to set them down. I thought my mind was ready but guess I thought wrong, I woke at 4am and made it to 7 before I lit one up. I know I can do it but I made up an excuse to smoke
I did not start smoking until my later 30s. It seem like my Nursing days and getting all Wired up made me smoke more.
Now 2 stents later the Drs are on my ash to quit!
I called the 1-800-quit now and they will send things to you for free. Gum, Patch, Throat lozenges (if I spelled that right).. They also send you some info that is just like our own information regrading our Substance Sobriety. Talks about Triggers, Behaviors, Places, so on & so forth. They will also have a Couch call you once a week.
I have been taking the straws and cutting them to fit in a pack. You can put cotton at the end with some kind of smell (puff on). Also people pick up suckers, life savers and toothpicks etc.
It is really hard when others around still smoke..Triggers, Triggers and more darn Triggers. Here WE GO AGAIN!! One last Addiction to cut out!
I wish you Luck and I hope you do the same for me! This one is hard and I can not even believe it. They tell me I c/t 3 meds at once why not the ciggs. Not right away after I stopped the drugs. That would of been toooo much! Now it is Time and it has been for a couple of yrs now..lol
Bless
VIC
hey Dude....well I need to stop 2 ....I smoke black & milds....I guess your not suppose to inhail them but I do ....I tyryed the patch but it dident cover the amount of nicateen I was getting from smoking I just need to buckle down and quit.....im getting to old for this and am going to start to see the consequence from it if I dont stop.....let me know how it goes for you................Gnarly.............................
OMG!!! I meant a COACH call you not a Couch! Sometimes my Brain has to kick in..Hahaha!!!
Please let us know how you do with the quitting smoking!! It's a tough one... I attempted to quit at about 3 months clean...I did try the patch and I found that coffee stirrers (the hard plastic ones) worked pretty well for me! I would always have one in my hand and chew on it when I needed to!! Needless to say it lasted only about 3 weeks...and Ive been smoking for 45 years so quitting is definitely something that needs to be in my near future!
So share all your successes with us cause it sure would be encouraging to hear about someone quitting!! Heck, maybe the rest of us can pick a quit date and try it together!!! :)
I hate to give disappointing news but I broke and smoked 7 cigarettes today :-(
This was a bit rougher than I expected, I do have to find a better alternative.
I Had a quit date set in December, I planned this 2 months back so I have to make it happen
