I am a bit calmer now. I did a really stupid thing I looked up what they are going to do and I should have NOT done that!
your right corey. As always :) I haven't had any cravings from the few that I have taken. They made me really sleepy funny enough. Husband is going to help.

Thank all of you. I went and thought it about. I never thought I would need pain pills again. I was unprepared.

You really are rock corey.

I just can't wait until it is over. Friday I will find out all the gorey details.
Trust me don't look up jaw graft. I watched some movie. I was wondering how the put the bone in around the tooth. Ha! silly me they don't they yank the tooth and then I will get a implant or 2.

Too bad the implant won't be a bit lower :+0

Again thanks. What would I do without all of you????

Hi Terry, Hope that you are feeling a bit better. As addicts, feeling sorry for ourselves is something we become really good at. I had a kidney stone removed in February and I was only about 6 weeks clean. I was soo scarred. I was on Morphine when I woke up. I had someone to hold my pills and planned on only having them 3 days out of the hospital. I did great. It's good to be concerned enough to have a plan but don't let all of this worry go on. Worry can overtake you. Get all of the facts and make a plan. See it as something that will work instead of something to be worried about.

I had my kidney stoned return and was in and out of the hospital twice in the passed week and a half. I have had to take alot of different pain meds and boy, I had no alternative. I was in PAIN. I came out of the hospital for the second time yesterday and gave up my 60 pills to Joe. I have taken 4 and don't have much pain today so I only took 1/2 twice. I'm not feeling any wds or cravings. I have access to 4 in case of pain (Joe's at work)  right now and don't want them. This is amazing for me. I never thought I would not go crazy with pills in my house. Once I know that my pain won't come back like a few days ago I will not allow myself to have access to even 4 though. I do not consider this a relapse. I am patting myself on the back for handling this so well. You will be able to do this. KEEP POSTING!!!!. Corey

Just scared, i don't want to use any pills. at all! I have taken 4 since Sat. I could not figure out why I still had pain.

W/d's were bad.  I am sorry to be so down. I asked him will I really need them and he said well, it is pianful he did not use the word uncomfortable. I am really no good with pain. Very low tolerance. I won't abuse them but I have a ton of guilt about using at all.

Not throwing  in the towel yet.

I look like buckey beaver. I had my hopes up to high I guess. Root cansl and done.

Just down.

Hello beatingthis.. my name is lesa  I'm so sorry to read you have to go through this kind of surgery.. But your thoughts on your addiction is very self defeating and does not have to be this way... In July I will be going for a complete shoulder replacement.. I will have need of pain meds.. just because we are addicts does not mean all hope is lost when we have need of pain meds.. I also have a plan. my son will be holding them.. I told my surgeon I was a addict as she asked when I said I want off the pain meds in 6 weeks.. also I want something for rls and sleep.. she was very understanding.. it was very hard but this was the only way I could think of to set it up that I can not con her out of more meds.. also I do not see these almost 7 months clean as a waste.. I have learned much.. my family recognizes me again and I have felt many things clean that I plan I feeling again.. when we abuse our meds this is the addiction.. when we have a plan this is a addict in recovery.. I plan on still being here on the forum as I will not have 8 pills in me.. just the amount allotted for the time period.. Also I'm very sure I will need the support offered by the wonderful peps here.. I just thought I would share my thoughts on this.. I do hope you stay for support and have this fixed as it can lead to severe problems.. I really do wish you the best.. with sincerity..

Honey, I don't think it's good news.  It would have been easier to have the root canal.  I hope your dentist is a periodontist?  They are experts at this type of surgery and are better suited. Some general dentists do okay, but this is a big surgery.  They will not put you under unless they offer that and you request it.  Most insurances do not pay for it the anesthesia and so be sure to find out before the surgery what they cover so you are not surprised by the bill.  We tell our patients all the time to call their insurance so they know what to expect.

I agree if you need pain pills for a little while after surgery, you'll be okay.  Just have your hubby or someone hold your pills so you do not find yourself tempted to take more than prescribed.  You can alternate that with Ibuprofen.  That helps wonders.

Good luck!

Janet

terry......pain *****, no way around it. have you talked to anyone regarding any alternative methods? are they needing to put you totally out under genereal anesthesia for your procedure?
don't beat yourself up tho either....this is something you need to do,correct?so there really is no choice about that end of it.but you may be able to use some other methods other than drugs.accupuncture i've heard works wonders. when do you have it done?keep in touch; stay strong!!

Relapse is taking the pills for all the wrong reasons and taking more than prescribed.  If you have to have surgery than you will need some.  Can you have your husband hold these for you?  I hope your surgery goes well........sara
