I know it is scary to tell him about this but you will feel so much better when you do.  Then you can really start to work on these issues.  It will be so worth it.  Let us know ok?   sara

What happened with your counselor? I can promise you no matter what happened someone on this board has been through it.

Did your counselor make you feel ashamed? Tell you due to your medical condition you are going to have to keep taking the pills? What kind of counselor did you go to, I know a few people have had to go to a couple different counselors until they found the right one.

Hey Alone,

Do not give up on this---get a second opinion or third.....I really think you should give your body some time off the pills you can really do this.  Pulling for you really.  Can tell you are struggling...Counselors are all different---I recently went to one that all he wanted to do was push pills to heal when all I wanted to do is talk things out.....

Give it a small chance don't let someone possibly squash a dream.....

Here for you

Everyone's right - there are SO many doctors out there - it's up to you to find the right one.  Don't let some idiot steer you into a life of unhappiness and pills.  There is a way out of this - and you hold the key to getting there.

Good luck - and please - if we know what happened, we can share our experiences with you and I think that would help you right now.  :)

DOnt give up!!!!!!! The first doc i went too, told me the only way to get clean is to go on Sub, and he made me feel that i will be a failure if i dont listen to him. These docs make tons of money off us and some of them are not looking out with our best interests in mind. Come on girl, stay strong, post on here and let us know what's going on, PLEASE??????  Dont let one bad doc affect your life, you need to take control over you, Do you know why????  Because you are worth it!!!!!!

Just not a good day, I was just shocked today when I tried to explain what was going on, he said because of my back surgery I would be on pills forever and not to worry at the dose Im taking. Then bad day with the husband he may deploy again...

I'm sorry it's been such a bad day for you.  Please reconsider seeing another Dr. as it always good to get another opinion.  Something doesn't sound right with this Dr. you have seen - so please - put yourself FIRST here okay?

I was just glancing through this forum (I rarely come over here or comment anymore) but I did happen to read a comment that you made and felt the need to respond. I too, in '08, had a serious spine surgery, they had to break my back in three places, I have a complete fusion which includes 37 screws and also two rods from my neck to my tailbone - serious stuff. Anyway, the point is, my Doctor (who also happens to be my friend and a client of mine...small town) believed also that I would be on this medication for the rest of my life in order for me to have any kind of quality of life. I could barely walk for eight months and had intensive physical therapy. Anyway, my point is, only you know what you will need in your life, only you know your body. I am a firm believer that quite often pain medication can actually cause more pain. I know that sounds crazy, but when I am off them (and obviously past the god awful withdrawals) I have less spine pain than when I am ON them. Call me crazy, but the pain from withdrawals throughout the day is far worse than the pain caused by my spine when I am sober. It's a medical mystery, I have no idea why this is. But its definitely worth taking the plunge so that you can assess your pain properly, with a clear head so to speak.

Good luck to you.

K.
