how long do alcohol withdrawls last

hello i have quit drinking for three days now, i was drinking 5 to 7 days a week for years, most times not getting plastered, just a few beers and or a pint of jack. i heard its dangerous to quit on your own and was wondering what are some of the symptoms i should or shouldnt be feeling. i am experiencing sweaty palms, feeling down and trouble sleeping, how long does this last, and what are signs that i need to go to the doc.

the fact that you drink 5 days a week tells me you dont wake up every morning cracking a beer.your almost  there physically, that part is almost over the psycological part can be a problem it depends on the individual.keep posting and good luck

http://alcoholism.about.com/cs/withdraw/a/aa030307a.htm

here, try this site. there is alot of information about symptoms and severity.

or at the top of this page hit forums and then choose alcoholism. there are alot of people there that can give you first hand advice. although a lot of times there is no one on line. it is not as busy as this forum.
