Most N/A meeting are open to all you will be welcome with a hug and you dont even have to say anything..although if you do decide to share
do so the people there will understand they are ether going threw it just like you or have been threw it keep in mind we can only keep it by giving it away....we need you as well as you need us..the only way to do this wrong is to try and do it alone the mental and emotional part is harder then the detox by going to the meeting you will see how others have made it to 30 days 6 mo a yr or many years this is your first step into recovery and that will help you 3 fold I have been clean 1614 days and still go to them 4 tims a week the support is great please come back and post to let others know your experence good luck and God bless.......Gnarly.............
When I started meetings 17 years ago,I liked n/a the best. But,I first went to aa while looking for n/a.They will all welcome u as Gnarly says.Just by going with an open mind u have started on the road to recovery.Keep going and let us know.good luck.
You will be welcomed. You don't need to say much, just listen. I think we can all relate to the nerves...all too well.:) Let us know how it goes!
Hi there ~ congratulations on taking this next right step in your recovery! I totally get the anxiety related to going into an "unknown" space... it's a challenge. I commend you for pressing onward!
My DOC is different, but really... when all boiled down... addiction is addiction. If we're using any substance to change the way we feel, we have a problem... yeah? Both AA and NA can be beneficial... there are a lot more AA meetings available I have found - convenience wise, but you may find NA more comfortable. Try them both out? I'm an addict not an alcoholic - BUT I got sober in AA rooms. It just worked for ME :) So, feel it out for YOU. Keep going back. In the beginning what worked for me... I found a seat, I listened... I learned... and I wanted what "they" had... lots of sobriety - their strength and hope. it is a WE program.
Keep choosing YOU! Congrats ~! I hope you'll tell us how it goes :)
I'm very, very, very, happy to see you are taking a serious look at going to a meeting... I'm like Ashellofme and I goto AA meetings, so whether it's AA or NA it really doesn't matter its all the same message and works the same way.. Just replace the word alcohol with ur doc, plus you will find that many AA meetings are filled with people who used pills, coke, and etc.. Just go in grab a coffee or tea and sit and listen -- you do not have to speak and you will be welcomed with open arms.. Please let us know how it goes...
Before I went to my first NA meeting I was still unsure of going with only 15 more minutes to decide. For me, it was a great experience. No one had to talk if they didn't want to. I was welcomed, with no judgement from anyone. I've only been back 1more time cause I've been sick, but intend to go again next week.
Did you go to a meeting?
Got off @ 430 am...didn't make it n fell asleep....hopefully this weekend
