new and needing support

I posted in an old thread and was encouraged to post here. I have neen taking lortab for over 2 years and darvocet before that for 11 years . I was diagnosed with endometreosis and at 30 spinal stenosis. It was bad enough that i took too many darvocet but when I started with the lortab it became much worse. I was taking 8-10 10mg lortab a day . My doctor found out last week that I had been abusing this medicine and told me she would not be able to fill any more for me. At first I was completely filled with anxiety and dread but I know God made a way for me to be honest with her( which I had never been with ANYONE before). I've been married 5 years and not even my husband knnew. She gave me a schedule to cut back until I went to see a pain management Dr. Over the weekend though I decided that I was more anxious about following a schedule that just trying to stop. I have struggled a bit with w/d symptoms but have managed to get down to 11/2 lortab per day. I believe that there is no way I could have done this without the help of God. I have even been able to tell my husband everything along with my family and friends from church. I've read so many posts on here over the past few years but have never posted. I'm so encouraged by everyones progress and honesty I couldnt stand not communicating with all of you. I cant think of a question but would like to ask for your support and prayers. Your testimonies have given me the courage to get on here and actively ask for help!

I took my unused pills to my doctor. If you take opiates there, you get urine tested and I didn't want my urine to come up clean and no pills to count because then they would think I was diverting (selling) them. If you can't trust yourself not to take them, if you have someone you trust maybe you can ask them to hold them for you until your appointment.

Congratulations!

Good for you for being honest with everyone. That is a HUGE step! Probably one of the hardest. You have done a good thing posting here. You will get a LOT of support here & it sounds like you have some good support @ home. That is important.
YOU CAN DO THIS! It will be one of the hardest things you will ever do but SO worth it! Life on the clean side is great! I wish you the best of luck. Keep posting. Know that you are not alone!

You were very courageous to be honest with your doctor; that is a huge first step.  You will find lots of encouragement here.  One day at a time; sometimes one hour at a time - you can do it.

Hi, welcome, and wow, you have done excellent on your taper! That shows tremendous discipline and strength. I am a pain management patient and decided to stop all opiates last November. I had to quit cold turkey because if I had the meds I would take them. I'm glad you found us and posted. I believe you will be an encouragement to others and hope to keep hearing from you :)
