Please Help

I have been using any kind of opiate I can get (hydrocodone mainly) for about 5 months and have decided to get off before it gets any worse. I have heard about the Thomas Recipe, and am wondering if that helps, if not what does? I have a 5 month old daughter that I am solely responsible for during the day and in the night. I need something for night time that will help with the horrible restless legs and sleeplessness that will still allow me to wake up with her and be able to take care of her properly.

Welcome to the forum.   How many a day were you taking?   Yes, Thomas Recipe is good.   As for waking up with the baby, I doubt you will be sleeping that soundly that you won't be able to wake up.   Even if you feel badly, you should be able to get up and take care of her.    At least with a five month old, you can keep them close by or hold them a lot and not worry about having to chase her around the house.   I believe it is totally possible for you to do this.   The main thing is to want to very badly, cut your sources, get the supplies you need for the Thomas recipe, drink lots of fluids and gatorade, and if at all possible, tell a close friend or family member so you have some support, and post here often for support too.   Good luck.   You can do this.   A few days feeling bad isn't a bad exchange for having your life back.

Since you are out of pills get committed to this thing and STOP now!! Please don't wait years and then look back and try to figure out what happened to your life.  Did you go to any AA meetings when you quit drinking? I have a feeling probably not if you quit when you got pregnant. If not get yourself to a meeting as soon as you are able. Also, is this a secret addiction? Does family, friends, doc, etc. know???  Beware alcohol is a drug that lowers your inhibitions so if there are any pills around places you will be more apt to take them. Trust in the people on this forum as we only want the best for you and your sweet little baby ;-)

That's a pretty low dose, so you shouldn't have too much trouble quitting.   True, you don't want to trade one addiction for another....you just need to make up your mind that you won't drink....take it one day at a time and join a support group.  I have never had a problem with alcoholism, so perhaps someone will come along that has had a drug problem and an alcohol problem and tell you how they cope.  Bumping this back to the top.

I started out taking 10 mg a day of hydrocodone, and have moved up to about 20mg-30mg a day. I am unable to taper, as I have run out and have no access to more. (which I guess is a good thing) I am just mainly worried about moving from this addiction back to alcoholism, I suffered badly for about 5 years up until I became pregnant and then quit cold turkey. Stayed clean my entire pregnancy and then turned to pain killers immediately after giving birth... Any tips?

Awesome that you have decided to quit now. You are one of the,,,, lucky ones? Well I say that because although you are addicted, you caught it early on. How many were you taking?
