OUT OF PERCOCET

I'm out of percocet and I dont get my refill for another 2 weeks. I have no money to buy any right now or i swear to god i would. I'm tired of this. I have not gone without any for 2 years, and here I am getting ready for work knowing i'm gonna be in the bathroom sick all day. I guess i totally deserve this but my kids (i'm a teacher) dont. How do you guys stay clean during the wd? I get paid tomorrow and I know the first thing I'm gonna do is buy some so how did you guys 'just say no' when knowing that saying yes would make you feel so much better when your so sick?

Winnergirl,

I agree with Jillian, you sound like you may need help from a Dr. and a detox clinic but you are on the right path.

Think of the days before you even knew about pills, or being high, or worrying about your script running out early. You can be free of all this.

Sounds like you take  the pills to except or to just not be sick in withdrawl it is a vicous cycle. Jules

Obviously your Doc is writing scripts for  oxys, The problem is your taking more than the dosage on the script. (wow! im a real Einstein)lol. Point is, if you discuss your problem you might be suprised what some docs will do to help you out. I know your afraid if you mention this he will cut you off flat. Most Dr. will try to work with you. Getting clean is a HARD HARD accomplishment. But, its not impossible. you may slip and fall a few times, but if you just keep trying you can do it. Right now you may not believe this, but there is actually a pleasurable life after drugs. GOOD LUCK

Like said above, you have to really want it bad. You also have to cut off all your suppliers. Knowing that a refill is just around the corner makes it so much more difficult and we end up just waiting day by day until that refill is ready. I remember having to wait 2 weeks for a refill and in turn made the withdrawals seem worse and last longer. If you really want to get and stay clean you need to call the pharmacy and tell them you want to cancel it. I would even go see your doctor and tell him you want off of the narcotic pain relievers and he can help you set up a plan to do so. If you are truly having pain from something there are many other non narcotic pain meds that can help. You have to cut off everything and everyone that will give you access to the pills. While withdrawing the thought of knowing some pills are just a phone call away can be too overpowering.
Also, start exercising as it helps more than you can imagine. Even if it is just a short walk around the block at first. Be sure to eat healthy and push the fluids. It really helps speed up the whole process. Check in to the amino acid protocol in the health pages. It will help your body recover from the opiate abuse a bit faster. You just have to get a strong mindset and tell yourself failing is not a option. You have to believe in yourself. Many have done it in the past and many are doing it now. It is your turn and you can do this! Just stay strong and know you are not alone in this battle! Best of luck!

How bad do you want to get off these pills?  We can all talk till we are blue in the face but you are the one who has to decide and do the work.  You are on a roller coaster ride that has only one way and that is down.  Get honest with yourself first.  Talk with your doctor and tell him/her what is going on.  Cut your contacts off.  You also say your kids that you teach dont deserve a sick teacher....they dont need a teacher who is high either.  You have it in you to get clean.  Dig deep and fight for you.  Get into some aftercare.  That is vital to our recovery.  Cancel that refill..........sara

Axl, that was sooo well said!!! Day 4 and pushing hard. I have to say, this is the worst day so far. I have made it 8 days before....so I'm pushing for that 9 mark this time...then hoping the rest is history. :-)

I know what you mean.  It was those same "hopeless" feelings that got me to finally say, enough is enough.  I got tired of always worrying about it.....wondering where I am gonna get them cuz i ran out 2 weeks early....and wondering where i was gonna get the money to pay rent cuz i spent my last 600 dollars on pills....etc.  Those are the thoughts and moments that finally made me realize I had a problem, and it was time to take control.  I'm not gonna lie, quitting isn't easy.  You really have to want it.  Yes, you will feel like sh*t for a few days.....but what's a few days of suffering to ensure a lifetime of TRUE happiness??  The price is low if you ask me.

If you are ready to change for the better, then now might be the time.

Give it some thought.

I'll just throw out a bunch of ideas: If you are a teacher and have insurance that pays for it go to a detox/rehab. I know that sounds extreme but it can be a lot easier than trying on your own. Counseling, also good. Read the posts on this site; that really helps make the drug taking real. How did I stop....now day 31 off of pills 26 years off alcohol. I just kept getting more and more depressed, irritable, overwhelmed and angry. I felt out of control. So I literally got on my knees and gave -up. Said: I just give up I can't do this on my own. And I really had just come to the end. I hate to use the G-- word or "higher power" or whatever in the universe that is bigger than yourself. But I turned it over. And it worked. I by myself am not able to stop using, drinking etc. I am an addict. Sometimes you just do it hour by hour. Or take away something that helps you keep using...like turning your money over to a friend to control. Or telling your pharmacist that you are allergic to your drug. Anyhow, keep trying to stop. Sometimes it takes lots and lots of tries. Good Luck, keep posting.

I know how you feel.  I found this site a few days ago when I decided that I would be trying (for the millionth time) to quit this damn stuff.  The longest I have ever gone in the last 20 years is 5 days.  I am now on day 4.  I slept for 5 minutes last night!!!!

I am in so much pain and discomfort it is incredible.  I too can pick up the phone and get some more but I know that I need to stop.  The stories on here are very helpful to know that if you are determined enough, it can be done.

Hang in there.  The general feeling I get is that you need to get through those first 5 days.  We can do this together losergirl (i hate your username)  Can you tell a very close friend or confidant?  Your dose is not that high.  Not to downplay your problem by any means but your WD should not be as bad as many.

I was so close to just going and getting some this morning and someone sent me a message that really strengthened my resolve to end this carousel ride.  The funny thing is, I used to look at people and just wish I could be normal again and am now trying to stay on that path.

Come here often, this site is a godsend.

Good luck and write me if you need an ear,

bob
