Anxiety/Panic Attacks

Does someone who is having a panic attack have control over their physical actions? For example, during a panic attack if someone hits you did they consciously make that choice? From all my research on panic attacks, all literature says that a person becomes more immobile and has no control of internal things such as breathing and shaking. This leads me to believe that the person chose to hit another consciously and used the panic attack as an excuse.

I would dare say that it really depends on how severe the attack is.  A panic attack is JUST that: panic.  People who are in the midst of panic are unpredictable, and may strike out at something they wrongly perceive as a threat.  I have done this myself, not physically, but verbally, shouting at people to get away from me and don't touch me.  If they hadn't obeyed me, I really might have struck out at them physically.  I hope this is helpful.  Blessings - Blu
