Anxiety and Seizures

I think I had a seizure last night when I was trying to sleep. It only lasted for a few seconds, but it felt like an electric shock and it felt like I was moving like a fish out of water. This is the second or third time this has happened to me in the past month. I've been very anxious lately so I think it's come from that.

I am 24 years old and I have been treated for depression and anxiety since I was 14. I'm on Lamictal, Zoloft, Wellbutrin. I've recently been taking Atarax as well. I've never had a seizure before although when I was very little I had chronic migraines, which I've heard can be a form of epilepsy.

I don't have time to see a doctor, but I checked the side effects for Atarax and it includes tremors, which is weird because I'm supposed to be taking it to calm down. I stopped taking the Atarax and although I'm still twitchy, it's not as severe. The thing about Atarax is that I only have to take as needed, so by not taking it I don't think it's going to hurt me.

It could have been a seizure.  There are seizures where the person is conscious through it.  It's called a complex partial seizure.  A friend of mine has them occasionally, and she is always aware through the whole thing.  It could definitely be from the meds, though.  My friend was on a certain med that caused them to happen more often, so you should get it checked out.

I highly doubt that it was a seizure. You must be under an intense amount of stress.  I believe that a seizure is strong enough to knock someone out cold for a few hours. You would literally pass out.

I don't mean this to scare you, but I would get in to see your doctor as soon as possible. I've never had a seizure, so I don't know what one feels like, and I'm not sure that is what you even had...........you could have been asleep and had a weird dream and woke up thinking it was real. I don't know.........I just think you should talk to your doctor about it. It could possibly be a drug interaction since you just recently began the Atarax. (?) Be safe, not sorry!
Please let us know what the doctor said, OK? Your bad experience could save someone else from going through the same ordeal.
Peace
