I am a 53 year old male and have been dealing with this issue on and off for months. I am in good health, eat well and deal with anxiety. For me, this issue is stress related. I have the symptoms at work, but not at home. The key for me is yoga, it goes away when I do yoga regularly,it is either stretching muscles in my lower back or hamstrings that is causing the problem, but it solves it for me.
I am having a problem an was looking for answers on line .I ran across you first post on this site an Bam You are feeling exactly like me.It started to with occasional about 3+weeks ago. Then it would be more severe an now it never lets up.I feel pressure!!!It feels like a watermelon is trying to come through but can't.Constant pushing.I'm 56.It's nothing female because I've had a total hysterectomy.Like you said after I go to the bathroom I feel some relief but it doesn't last.I'm trying not to think the worst which would only be a cystist. If I spell that correct.I have no health insurance. My only option is ER.An they probably would examine me but refer me to a doctor. So unless I get a miracle or this gradually begins to leave.I don't know. But I hope you get some answers cnote for yourself an so maybe that will give me an idea. But I definitely believe whatever it is we have the same thing.I've never wrote anything like this before but I'm desperate.Hope to hear from you soon.Thx
Sounds very much to me like levator ani syndrome. A muscle spasm in the pelvic floor by the tailbone. Ask your doc. Its aggravated by stress and anxiety.
Hi there. As a reminder. We can't diagnose anyone on the internet. You can look into anal fissures but it is appropriate to talk to your own doctor for diagnosis and treatment. good luck
Also forgot to say take stool softeners ( if they don't work switch to a different brand)
Citrucel which is a fiber supplement
And drink lots of water
*** ATTENTION EVERYONE***
I know exactly what this is because I have been suffering with this for sometime. It is a anal fissure and is found mostly in people with high anxiety.
I went through all the thoughts as you did. Is it cancer? Is it hemorrhoids? How serious is this?
I went to the doctor and he said it was an anal fissure gave me a compound cream and said it should heal in 3 to 4 days of course it didn't.
Three weeks later went on a trip to California and had to have a procedure called fissure autonomy with botox.
If yours is not that bad we just for surgery I suggest soaking after every bowel movement in warm to hot water with Epson salt. Ask a pharmacist what cream is best to use on anal Fissures and that should numb it up a little. It's weird but Orajel work sometimes for me. Also heating pad at night and during the day while you're sitting around.
Good luck with this cause it's literally a pain in the ***!
For any woman suffering from this problem please get checked out. I had pressure on my rectum for 2 weeks just assumed it was internal piles because I suffered In the past with them. it turned out to be a ruptured ectopic pregnancy I was getting my periods every month well I thought they were periods. The only symptoms I had was cramping and rectal pressure I'm lucky I went to a&e when I did or I wouldn't be here today to write this comment. Don't self diagnose because someone on the Internet has the same symtoms. Always go to your doctor.
Hello everyone... These issues sound like internal and external hemorrhoids. Internal hemorrhoids for the bruise-like dull aching pain with a small area thats slightly raised that feels like a knot. External hemorroids which may be a protrusion of skin near the rectum that often bleeds. They are likely being exacerbated by the straining that causes pressure when you lift weights and do squats that end up worsening the weakening in the veins. The only difference between internal or external being the location of the weakening. Also, they feel worse at the end of the day when youve been walking or sitting all day long for that same reason.
Some tips to improve the discomfort are adding fiber and water to reduce constipation, warm sitz baths, and a donut pillow to sit on. Creams may be effective on the external ones. Of course seeking medical help is important and always suggested, but just thought i could help decrease your anxiety a little before your visit. With the students may i suggest your student health clinic if you are in college or university or free/reduced price clinics. Heres a link with an explanation. http://www.health.harvard.edu/diseases-and-conditions/hemorrhoids_and_what_to_do_about_them
Hey I'm a 14 year girl and have the same thing but my bad back is from being dropped as a baby maybe that's what happened to you. As for the annul problem I have it to but my "bad back" is the reasoning for it because, my lower back is curved somewhat so as my dr. said that getting a lower back massage/chiropractor will help
Train 6 times a week I mean haha I'd train 6 times a day if I could though.
Hi cnote any luck in finding a Relief for the lower back pain and spasm? I have the exact same thing now and I'm 21 fit and healthy, I train 6 times a day and I think I got this just from simply walking around work and doing body weight squats to stretch my legs lol but have had previous back injuries from the gym. I too worry a lot almost about everything I find which for my age you would think it's ridiculous but most people don't get it, then again neither do I but hey. If you have found any relief for this problem in particular please email me at ***@****
I have the same symptoms but noticed a very little red bright spot on my stool only today and 3 days ago. I have constant pressure in rectum and itchy/little inflamed anal area :( I am dreadfully afraid it's cancer..
Update: Wow! I'm SO glad I wrote about this issue 5 years ago on medhelp.
I'm back in the same spot, and I think I know what's going on.
This was NOT benzo withdrawal, it was indeed my LOWER BACK causing this issue.
I now have diagnosed with having a "bad back". :( Because this is happening to me more and more, yet I have more and more lower back spasms with it. It stinks.
It's no fun. Dr. thinks I probably injured myself at some time in my life, and now it's just get's easier and easier to injure.
He has not done an MRI on me, but he has done an xray, which shows no issues with disc spacing, he also checked my prostate a few times, no issues there, and he also did blood work, and my blood is normal. So that helps me quit worrying about it, but the pain is real. :(
Hello buddy Im a 23 year old male who's having the same problem you described, I know it's been three years now but I'm glad that you said you got rid of it! I'd like to ask you how long did it last? I mean I have the same thing pressure and feels like there is a marble or a small ball there and I want to know how did you get rid of it? Thank you.
Desij44, I no longer have this issue. I associated this issue with the use of Benzodiazapines, Ativan to be exact. I had to get off the medication because I was going in and out of tolerance withdrawal forever. Withdrawal can cause muscle spasms in places that I never thought I had muscle. lol. So fortunately it is gone and has never returned. This post is SUPER old, and I'm glad to say that I have been medication free for quite some time! :) I stills suffer from anxiety, but it's only about 3 times a year vs. 30 times a year. Medication made things worse for me. But that was just me. :) If you are concerned just see your Dr.. It's almost 100% of the time just muscle spasm. Take Care! :)
Are you still having these symptoms? I have exactly the same. I'm seeing a gastroenterologist Friday.
Hi. I just found your description of your pain and I have 100% exactly the same pain: pressure and puckering in anus area and tail bone pain, all the symptoms you described is unbelievably the same. But the thing is that I have this for about 5 months now. Did you find out what it was and what did you do to get rid of it? Did the pain come back? I would appreciate for an answer. Thanks so much. Ingrid.
This is so old. Ended up being benzo withdrawal. Ativan to be exact. After getting off all benzos all anxiety stopped and went away for 2 solid years. O don't have anxiety anymore. But do have bouts of insomnia which is due to stress. I'm a busy dude with too much on my plate. Lol. The life of a professional filmmaker.
Wow cnote. You are me. I have exactly the same feeling/symptoms, I suffer from anxiety, and constantly believe I have anal cancer or prostate cancer. Did you ever find out what this was? You describe it every way I describe it. This is so weird. It is like I wrote your post. Lol
Thanks
Graeme
Feeling a little better today!! Yay!!! My tailbone area is really sore though...
I'm really thinking now, I probably injured myself somehow... probably from working on last saturday...
Even though I didn't work out my legs at all... i did do a lot of bench press and butterflies... and worked out my back.
I'm SURE you can still strain something down there muscle wise... even if you are not working out those muscles per say.
I'm going to continue stretching a lot today while at work... not sit too much. I brought a special pad to sit on today to take some pressure off my sacrum/coccyx/tailbone area.
I think I can quit worrying now... =)
Because I can 100% say, I am feeling MUCH better today than yesterday and the day before etc. etc.
So it MUST be getting BETTER and not worse.
I can't believe I give myself so much anxiety over these things.
You are right, I do tend to make things worse than what they are... I have having lower back pain with this too...
That there is making me think now that it could be muscle spasms in my lower back near my sacrum/coccyx also making my rectum muscles spasm as well?
Or it could still be something like an internal hemorrhoid.
It hasnt went away yet... it's been 3 days now... should I still wait it out?
Again, it feels like my rectum is constantly pushing/puckering and there is pressure in my rectum. I am not constipated... but I have noticed the pressure feeling does kind of feel better after I have a bowel movement.
its not painful per say, but it is very uncomfortable feeling like this all day!!! And my tail bone/lower back muscles are tense and hurt... Feels like ive been sitting on a dang bicycle all day... and my bones/rectum area are sore from it. IT'S DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!
It does feel a little better when I'm up and walking around... but can still feel the pressure some... but when im sitting down.. it seems to get more intense... and my talk bone/lower back get sore too.
I keep fearing its cancer or something... like prostate cancer... because sometimes the muscle between my rectum and my scrotum feels pressure too.
Again, I'm only 26 male... pretty good health... i have been exercising for about 2 months now every other day... may not drink as much water as i should... but i do eat good... over all im in good health!
I'm too young to have prostate cancer right!!??
thanks guys! The dr. said if its not feeling better by Monday to call him and come in and see him... PRAYING this alleviates before then...
Is it possible to have rectal muscle spasms? and for this long?
dude, (bum) issues again! hope you are doing ok! Again I would suggest you not call your Dr. for these issues, you have from previous post proven repeatly that (100%) your thoughts of something wrong with you, have in fact been wrong!
Everytime you have a issue (forget the cost factor) your brain is preceiving DANGER, when no danger is present, then you call your Dr. and you are telling yourself , yes there is danger, which can only make your anxiety worse. unless you have some other medical issues your not posting, you are a healthy young man. take care , Samuel
hmf099 Holy cow! That describes the feeling perfectly!!! Pressure and the feeling of constant "puckering". like its pushing a little put its not!? I'll get on a high fiber diet asap. lol. Thanks so much!!!
Feeling a little better today... been using a heating pad some... and trying to avoid sitting as much as possible at work.
My husband's internal hemorrhoids never itched or burned, he described it as pressure and a "puckering feeling". Prep h, tucks, and other otc meds didn't help, oddly enough his specialist put him on a high fiber diet which worked wonders.I'm sure your dr will figure out what's up.
