i need help, i am too young for this and it is ruining me.

I started noticing the anxiety at about 13 years of age but didnt know what it was. i am now 16 and it is ruining my teenage life. i never ever feel like i can breathe right. its always a challenge to make sure my heart is at a normal pace and my breathing keeps going. it is the scariest thing and i know millions have it but i just feel so alone in this battle and i hate to think of the fact that i have a disorder. i always feel like i could pass out at any second and light headed. except for when im dancing which is the one thing that keeps it away for the most part. when my attacks come on i am just terrified and even when everything is fine i anticipate the attacks which makes my breathing even worse and i have heart palpatations every day, multiple times a day. i have seen a therapist and am going back to them soon and more than likely going on medicine. i am scared of almost nothing. i dont have a lot of fear i live life as it comes and i dont question it. i am not a worried person, a pessimist, or depressed. i am very happy and like i said scared of almost nothing. i have some family problems involving financial difficulty, parents controversing divorce for years, and not really getting a long with my parents too much, but nothing too serious. i just need support and just knowing that im not alone in this struggel would help a ton. thank you! and bless you all!

I would have to agree that anxiety can really be overwhelming, scary, and confusing especially when you are teenager.  Heck, you already have so much pressure on you with everything you have going on in your life, but there is hope with this; A LOT of hope, which is a good thing.

We all face many challenges in life and this is a really big one to be for sure.  Do you have access to counseling?  For me, talking it over with someone did wonders learning about anxiety (or any problem for that matter), and shedding light on something I did not understand makes it less overwhelming and I was able to confront and learn about it.  Its just like any subject that we don't know anything about.  Initially, it can seem unmanageable, but with knowledge you can form a plan to reach your goal of dealing with this.

I know it can seem very overwhelming right now, but you can get through this...just please keep us in the loop, ok?

Anxiety disorder seems like its outside of you and uncontrollable but it is treatable. It can seem terrifying but it is managable. Cognitive behavioral therapy can be helpful as well as talk therapy. Don't confuse anxiety attacks with any real world concerns you have though. And knowing you have anxiety disorder can be difficult but once its under control it will just seem like any other aspect of your life, the same way a person with diabetes needs insulin. The idea of approaching treatment is far more unnerving than after it helps you.
