I know it can be hard to talk to your doctor sometimes, but that is what they are there for. I was initally the same way because I was embarrassed. Depending on your relationship with him/her it sometimes can be a hard thing to do. Another great resource for medication questions in my opinion is your pharmacist. I have had many questions answered by mine and I have found them to be very paitent and understanding to my questions.
I didn't get a chance to ween off the propanolol. and it wasn't effecting me any more except for causing my digits(fingers n toes) to lose entire circulation in which i then had to sit with my partner trying to get it back.
It was also helping my high blood pressure and migraines.
The pressure has deffinately faded some what since I posted. Its still as annoying though.
And yes the doctor told me to come off the propanolol and go to the sertraline as i really cant have the loss of circulation.
I am nervous about the sertraline but no more than I was with the propanolol or any other medication ive had.
One thing ive noticed is the heart palpitations/high blood pressure. its spiking and causing me to overheat and end up with a heat rash over my chest and arms, mostly my left side. It was soo bad yesterday it hurt. I ended up using icepacks and putting them over my heart so it'd cool me down (took a while but it did and the pressure went down)
Im nervous to say anything to a doctor. Cause I know it might not be the drug. or the change over. So I'm just a very scared person not knowing what to do.
I assume that you are doing all of this under your doctor's direction. I can not speak for the Propanolol, but I have taken Zoloft on and off for years with success. For me, anytime I start, stop or adjust the dose of an SSRI like Zoloft (under my doc's supervision of course), I tend to notice some side effects, however they tend to balance out within a couple of weeks. In the beginning when I first went on it, I also believed I was very nervous about taking it, so any odd feeling that I had I attributed to the medication and not my anxiety. For me, patience with it helped me get through the intital fear I had about taking it and it has benefited me greatly in the long run, but always stay in contact with your doctor about medication issues...keep us posted!
Did you wean off the Propanolol? This medication should never be stopped abruptly. Although Propanolol is sometimes used for anxiety there are better medications out there for this. Propanolol is more for treating tremors, angina (chest pain), hypertension (high blood pressure), heart rhythm disorders, and other heart or circulatory conditions. It is also used to treat or prevent heart attack, and to reduce the severity and frequency of migraine headaches. Anytime we start a new medication there can be side effects the first week or two as our bodies adapt to the medication. You should call your doctor and ask if these are side effects you should be concerned with......he wants and needs to know how you're doing, so don't hesitate to call him. Take care.
Also.
Its for severe anxiety and Borderline Personality Disorder.
Also found after taking it n stopping the propanolol my anxiety has gone worse again. Well the adrenaline. Its almost unbearable. Panic constantly. (I stopped taking the propanolol the day before)
