I currently am on Paxil and want to go off due to all the problems I am having. I have Zanex and take it only for special problems that may seem to be coming on ie: Panic Attacks
I would like to go off the paxil cold turkey will the Zanex help me through if used sparangly? Also I am on 12.5 I have reduced my dosage on my own to ween myself off of this. But I am scared because I don't want to continue to lock myself away and have no interaction with my kids and husband. Please help I am not like this I love to go out and play and enjoy life. Please do not ask me to consult with my doctor as he had me on Paxil, Lamictal, Zyprex and Zanex all at the same time and I couldn't handle it. Please any suggestions so that I can interact with the outside world again. This is driving me into further depression!!!!!

The first thing you need to do is stop trying to wean yourself off these meds and you must absolutely NOT consider doing a cold turkey with the Paxil.
ANY taper off an antidepressant must be done under the supervsion and guidance of a doctor. Since you've asked us not to tell you to consult with your doctor, I won't. I will urge you to see a PMM...........a Psychiatric Medication Manager. These doctors can be found in most psychiatric clinics and it is all they do............help people get their medications under control and make sure they are on the correct ones. If you want off any of your meds, this doctor will work with you to divise a taper program specifically for you that is controlled by you with him/her as your sort of "guide" through the process. They will be able to write scripts for you for lower and lower doses as you step down.
While you are consulting with the PMM, you can get a referral to a therapist to help you with your anxiety and depression so you CAN get out there and interact with your family and the world again. Just please don't attempt it on your own................I fear you'll only make it worse.
