Hello!
Look, everybody gets nervous and anxious when they notice the palpitations. It's important to look for answers with a Doctor. And we have to realize that the Heart works harder on some circumstances.
Everything depends on the facts/ Your age, Family Heart Disease(High BP)/Stress/Anxiety(increases palpitations)/Big meals and resting after it/Food reactions/Acid Reflux\ Digestive Problems, etc. Now I would see a Cardiologist and eliminate the first step(Heart Condition). Please do all the tests required. To relax, pls. do breed deeply and exhale slowly. Do that a few times and you will see that your heart rate will slow. Try to remain calm, you will see the improvement.
Go see a Cardiologist do not let this situation linger.
Be well
Hi chrissy.
I feel ur pain i too have this issue some times i get a break for a few hrs where i feel ok then ill have periods where i think I'm dieing From the constint pain or headach even dizzy.
I am a military vet I'm 44 i dont smike, i have a few drinks a month but never more then 2 at a time. I am not over weight. And i too use to work out more then i do now. Ive been pretty heathy all my life. My family has no history of heart disease.
Heres my issues. I am taking hp pills. I have ptsd, anxiety and depression. No meds for the ptsd. But. I find my mind is the worst. If i feel anxious i get the palps. If i stress i get them. If i eat spicy food. Or too much caffeine.
I also get heart burn at tines even if i don't eat spicy foods.
I have been researching this alot. If your doctor feels your at risk they will tell you. But millions of people suffer from this. What you need to do is find out the trigger. Is it food. Meds. Emotions. Etc,etc.
I have found that exercise does help. Also coughing, and baring down as if ur flexing your stomach or like pooping.. helps it triggers the nerves to reprogram per say to trigger beating change.
I have also found meditation helps. As well crying. And talking about how you feel. Maybe write your concerns on paper so your mind can relax.
Cold water splashed on the face can help. Most of what your feeling is not life threating but it does feel like it. You could have an arthemia but ur doc would test for this.. i encourage you to study your body. Write down how you feel when they start and stop. Track the time. And ur mood. Meds can help. But they can cause the issue aswell. All in all try and breath deep. Relax calm ur mind. Do what ever u need to relax. Even walking can help. Music. A bath. Light work out. Swim. Yoga. What ever. The fear if ur heart stopping is just that fear. Ive been dealing with this for like 3 yrs now. I'm not dead. Your sole is strong its just hurting. Find a way to heal. And it will go way
I’ve been getting really bad anxiety symptoms like struggling to breath, chest tightness, throat tightness, dizziness and feeling like I can’t get enough air in my lungs!! I was put on fleuxitine 20ml but I took an allergic reaction and got a bad rash what does other people take for panic attacks 24/7? It’s been like 2 months now!!!!!!
Hi Chrissy , Did any thing work? Is your problem resolved now?
I have heart palpatations 24/7. Iv had it for about 15years now, and just like many of use iv been to the docter and had test done only for them to say that nothings wrong and im fine. Over the years this is what iv learnt. Heart palpatations are normal only if thay are just palpatating. But palpatations causing dizzyness, shortness of breath or tight chest are alittle bit more to be concerned about. If you are experiancing palpatations along with those other symtoms go see a docter immediately and TELL THEM you have palpatations along with such and such. Palputations and irregular heart beat are more Often on the normal side. Till this day at 32 years old nothing has been done and i dont think you can do anything about it. Im going in to get it checked again soon just incase its developed into somfing more but if its just irregular heart beat and or palputations i can live with that. Iv lived with it basicly half my life. Your heart is a strong muscle and it wont just give out just because it misses a few beats or thumps harder then normal at times. For those who have palputations or irregular heart beat my advice is just make sure you go and see docters every now and then because if anything were more seriouse then your heart skipping beats thay will know. Cheers gyes hope this helps.
Have you ever backed out of your driveway and almost got hit by a car? Ever slammed on your breaks to avoid hitting someone? Your heart immediately races, you get palps, sweat, the works. You don't worry about it because you just escaped death right. That's what's happening to your body minus the actual near death part. Your getting surges of adrenaline that provokes a COMPLETELY NORMAL response. Your flight or fight is broken and your getting trigger by a danger that doesnt actually exist. Then you feel those sensations you wouldnt normally notice if you were in real danger. Those sensations scare you which in returns triggerd more adrenaline. Once its gone you worry about having them, think your dying, whats wrong with me, etc. Triggering flight or fight causing more scary symptoms giving you more adrenaline and the cycle continues. Stop playing into the cycle and you WILL GET BETTER i promise.
I have constant palpitations almost all the time, but I do have anxiety a lot. I do notice they subside when I'm really calm, but the palpitations bring on anxiety to. I feel hard beats about every 3rd beat but my pulse rarely goes over 80 bpm. I hate the feeling of the hard thump, feels like it's in my throat. I never have any pain but I do have high bp and type 2 diabetes, which also causes anxiety especially when my glucose level drops to a low point, then you have a rapid heart beat, sweating, feel light headed and the palpitations. I also take 2mg Xanax, that helps some but still have palpitations. I'm afraid as they're pretty much constant. So I feel anxiety has a lot to do with it.
I am a mother of 2 kids , am 40'years old. I have been experiencing heart palpitations since 5 days now. I went to the doc. he did echocardiogram and all was normal. I did blood test to check the level of vitamins D , B , calcium and Iron. All was normal except for deficiencies in Iron. I started Iron supplements as well as magnesium. I first thought i having a gastro reflux. But then the palpitations didn't stop and i was having a cough too. I went to see the doc again and he gave me Concor Cor 2.5 mg . I hope it is gonna work. I feel really tired and out of breath. In the mornings when i wake up is the worst time... but i can say that these palpitations are killing me ... i want it to stop :(((
Hey, just seen your post I get them every day and have done for the past two weeks it is the worse thing ever and so scar! I have generalised anxiety disorder and this just makes my anxiety worse, I get light headed, chest pains, feel like someone is squeezing my chest and pains in my arm and pins and needled but I've been to a&e and doctors and everyone one of them keep telling me it's anxiety but I feel like I don't believe them!
I'm so sorry that you're going thru this. It's anxiety. I know it because it's happened to me! Sometimes I wake up fine. and as soon as I move to get up my heart starts going crazy. It's in our head. Subconsciously we are anticipating that we will feel "funky". Especially since it's been happening for a a few weeks now. Have your mom take you to the primary care doctor. Maybe start going to therapy. You may need to start medication. At least for a little while until you feel better and that you have this under control. Pressure for teens these days is crazy! I can only
Imagine how you are feeling. I hope you take the advice. Best of luck!

Did they every go away, or calm down?
I'm a 16 year old male, I noticed pulpitations last year during the winter. I play soccer from Spring -> Fall and when that started all my symptoms besides indigestion faded. My high school soccer has a conditioning week in the summer and after the week I had chest pain for the whole following Saturday. That was the only returning symptom until about 2 weeks ago, which is about 2 weeks after the season ended. I started researching through various websites and found my results freightening. I went to the doctor about 2 weeks ago and my results still haven't returned from my ekg and I'm worried cus I only wore a heart monitor for 1 day and had very few symptoms in that time, now I'm having what ;ve researched to be heart attack symptoms (unexplained upper body pain such as sore arms/neck) I'm hoping for the best right now I feel like I'm too young to have heart disease but the symptoms point to it.
I have only just recently started having palpitations. Calling Doc tomorrow because they are freaking me out. I already take fish oil pills :( so I guess thats not gonna help
Hey everyone, I suffer with anxiety on and off, but recently when i thought I was going through a good period out of no where I have been getting isolated palpitations, like just a thud where it feels my heart has skipped a bit, like my heart is flopping in my chest, just a single beat but I have been ongoing for about a month now, like 3 an hour all day...I have had a full blood test, ecg done even showed a palp on it and they say it is all anxiety! It feels horrible and feel down I am worried and just want it to go away...why are they doing it?! any ideas?? Thank you x
Hi barb I also have afib. Wondered what mess you are on and if you have ever had an ablation done. I am 66 and started this afib nightmare 4 months ago. Cannot tolerate the medications they have made me very sick. Would love some contact with you.
I feel you there..my friends joke about the things I choose to tell them about my anxiety...my family however is very supportive...I would be glad to be your friend
Hey, you are only 17. I believe you are having panic/anxiety attacks. The more you pay attention to the palps the worse they get! I am a 68 year old woman and I have afib. I have had it for over 50 years. Its an abnormal beating of the heart. I have learned to live with it, but palpitations are part of it. Not saying you have this, but I know a LOT about palps! I have done so much research. I don't like doctors( their business anyway) But I do take heart meds and anxiety meds. I was fine until the year 2000. Had a major attack and now I am plagued with palps everyday. I have learned NO caffeine, NO alcohol! Darn I hate that!..But salt, beer, coffee, chocolate, caffeinated sodas, fats, msg ( chinese food) are among the things I have given up and it does help. I have an off day occasionally. But like so many others say, if you get busy , get your mind off them.....they will disappear. Maybe not all together, but you can manage to get through. You are not going to die from palps.........unless you have something very bad wrong and they would of found that by now with all you tests..So I hope you can get your mind busy and get out doors and stay busy...Its a messed up thing, but you will live with it. You just have to try. Ignore the funny little umps..Good luck and you will be fine!! ;)
Hi i'm 17 yr old and i have been suffering with heart palpitations for over 2 months now all day every day. It's so scary asoon as i stand up i feel my heart racing rapidly and can literally feel it out of my skin just around my left nipple. I get chest tightness and sharp pains in that area. When this first occured i got paranoid and caused myself have a panic attack and scared me . I went the hospital a few days later because i was getting worse and they told me i had pericarditis disease which is uncommon but which is a bag around my heart to stop it from infection and they give me naproxen tablets and was taking them for just over a month and nothing seemed to change so i went back to my GP and she told me i don't have pericarditis disease because my bloods come back all normal and when you have that they come back adnormal and just told me to get another blood test done and not to worry. So i had my other blood test done and whilst i was waiting for them to come back i had really bad tightness in my chest again so i rang an ambulance and they took me hospital and i explained everything to the doctor and he just told me i have muscalur pain and not to worry and go home and just take paracetamol. But my heart palpitations have still not stopped i have no reason why i am getting them i'm so scared at times and noone understands the situation i am going through. I am only 17 years old i should not have to go through this at my age. Just wondering if anyone can help or for someone just to tell me everythings going to be fine i will be okay:(
I'm 39 also I've have had panic attacks my whole life up and down better and worse I have found that exercise helps if u can not concentrate on your heartbeat but I notice that when I'm sitting around it seems to be worse because when u relax u think your heart would also but just remember when u exercise your heart is suppose to beat faster I know it's hard to not think about it but in time maybe exercise will help. When I was 16 I lifted weights like crazy and got addicted to it my body felt weird if I didn't lift.I lifted at school in gym so when summer came I didn't have access to weights after about two weeks of not working out the fast heartbeat began then panic I had never heard of a panic attack so I thought it was my heart I convinced myself it was but finally got diagnosed with panic disorder life has been hell ever since rollercoaster try to find a good Dr and stay out of your head Your Brain can do powerful things except give u a broke leg
