Great web site with stress reducing tips..;)
No, anxiety won't kill you, neither will stress. That's a common misconception. The only way "stress" would be lethal is if the person suffering from it turns to unhealthy ways to cope (drugs, alcohol), engages in risky behaviors, or takes their own life.
No one has ever died from a panic attack or severe anxiety without the presence of an underlying medical condition. As scary as a panic/anxiety attack feels, it is completely harmless.
I agree that speaking with your doctor is the logical next step to take. While you have been able to control your anxiety without medications, there is nothing wrong with feelong as though you may need some extra help.
It's also important to get into therapy as well. Medications will help control the symptoms of anxiety, while therapy will help teach you coping mechanisms.
Be sure to keep us updated. Hang in there!
Deffinitly invest some time in seeing a doctor. Especially since this could be genetically prone to you. My entire family suffers from depression, anxiety, panic attacks, ect.. Of course many people cope without medication at all, but you need to see whats gonna work for you. I suffer from daily migrains, ocd, add, severe anxiety disorder, and ptsd. You dont want to suffer from another attack in 3years let alone 3 days. Stress has killed people and plz dont be part of that. Reach out for help, you might have underlying things/feelings that truly are manifesting to your "disorder."
