First time experience

Hi,

my name is mike and I'm a very healthy 26 year old.  Last night I had what I suppose would be considered an anxiety attack and I wanted to make sure it wasn't something more serious.  I've read a little bit about anxiety attacks and I understand that fainting is very rare which is why I am concerned.

Last night I got into a fight with my girlfriend just before bed.  We have been driving across the country for two days now so we are already stressed and this added to it.  I was almost asleep after fighting and she said something that angered me so I snapped out of sleep, jumped up and turned the lights on and started arguing again.  Next thing I know I'm waking up on the bed from just having passed out.  After that I was hot at first then very cold.  My skin went pale and my face and extremities were numb.  After about 20 minutes I got my color and feeling back but felt nausiated and very tired.  I went to bed and woke up with a minor headache.

Does this sound like an anxiety attack or should I be worried about something potentially more serious?

Thanks,

Mike

Yeah, sounds like a panic attack gone awry to me. I agree with remar - see a doctor as soon as you can to rule out anything else. Like he said, you may have just gotten so worked up, that your BP shot through the roof and maybe you stopped breathing which caused you to pass out. But on the other hand - do you normally snap like that? If so, how does your body normally react to a sudden change in demeanor? Keep us posted! - Cathi

It does sound like a panic attack. I've had many of them and always get the headache and nausea during and after one. Fainting is kind of rare but it can happen. Were you having problems breathing when you were arguing and then passed out? I would really recommend seeing your Dr though just to rule any other problems out. Your blood pressure may have gotten very high after you woke up, jumped out of bed and started arguing. Let us know what your Dr says and try to keep calm, okay. Remar.
