Get me off of this stuff.

I have been on Paxil for years, probably more than 10.  I am now retired and out of the stress that I was experiencing.  I really want to discontinue the use of Paroxetine (40 mg).  How can I best do this?

Thanks for the help.  I'll start looking for the book and the doctor right after Thanksgiving.

Thanks for your help and concern.  Keep on trying, and someday all this stress may leave us both.

Find a psychiatrist who understands how to do this, and read a book called The Anti-Depressant Solution for tips -- it's by Joseph Glanville.  He has a protocol in there on how to slowly taper off.  Research these protocols, then ask your shrink how he'd do it, and if he doesn't sound like he understands it needs to be done as slowly as you need, no rush, and how to stop any unpleasantness, find a different one.

I would call you doc, because I am sure he can slowley taper you off of it, so that you won't have any withdrawels. Congrats on getting better. I can't wait till the day I can say that. :-)
