my mom suffers from heart palpitation and you may need to elevate the upper half of your body on a pillow in order to eliminate some of the gas you may be experiencing causing you to have this problem. she says to see if it will work. and to also attempt to cough once or twice... and just learn to control your breathing. you might be able to practice controlling your breathing by blowing into a balloon. she has been experiencing this for nine yrs now... hope this helps..
All the time as well, every morning, and evening before I go to bed. It is worse in the morning. It is as if I have woke up from a bad dream. It stays with me for hours as well.
I am also frustrated as I am on a beta blocker and valium. I also wake up with "morning headache" which is a lovely symptom as well. I tried a little melatonin last night and it seemed a little better to fall asleep. Not the pouding heart sound in my ear with my head on the pillow. The one thing I did notice, is that after I eat a little something in the morning, the heart palps, get better. It is almost as if my blood sugar is low. I am going to request a monitor, as my poor heart can not take this forever.
I had the same thing happen lat night. I had a very anxious day and I take xanax and tried klonopin last night...my doctor gave me inderal for rapid heart beat and last night for hours it was 120...I actually called her at 11 to ask her if I could take more inderal. But Nothing stopped my palpitations......NOTHING. Now I wake up a nervous wreck hoping it doesn't continue. Does this happen alot to you?
Hi -
I know exactly what you are talking about! I too experience anxiety, but some nights I will go to sleep and wake up with a pounding heart of anywhere from 100bpm to 120 bpm. The horrible thing is that it lasts for HOURS no matter what I do! I have had all the heart tests, ekg, several ecos, stress test, blood tests, I have worn the monitors, etc. All tests have comeback fine. I have tried to figure out a trigger for this to happen like drinking caffine, wine or eating late art night, but so far no rhyme or reason. My therapist thinks it is anxiety, but I'm not so sure. My saving grace is that I have had all the heart tests, so I feel better in that regard, but it is annoying and frustrating because when it happens you cannot sleep because the pounding is so uncomfortable. Have you been checked out by an MD for the palps? That may give you peace of mind. I hope this helps!
