High Anxiety with Weaning off Kadian

My pain management doctor is weaning me off Kadian (time release morphin) and I am having severe anxiety? Is there anything I can do to help the anxiety until I am done weaning off Kadian?

Thank you toejam muncher and Paxiled,

I am so shocked at how quickly the pain managerment gets you hooked on this stuff, I am the one taking myself off everything, I am being weaned off the Kadian because my body is dependant on it to function. I have told my pm docter NO more addicting meds.....I am trying to go all natural....I am so desperate no to  be controlled by these drugs I will eat passion flowers if someone tells me it will help my anxiety!

I am new to the site, how do I go to Dr. Gould ??

Try asking Dr. Gould on the mental health forum -- he may have some good advice.

it's not uncommon for a doctor to give someone in your situation something for the anxiety. i'd say ask your doctor if they can give you something just for the short term....i assume that you are at least physically dependent on the morphine, and since benzo's can also be addicting, it would be a good idea to not use them unless you absolutely need them...and it wouldn't be a good idea to use them for a very long period of time, either.

you have to watch out in situations like this. as you may already know, it's all too easy to replace one addiction with another without ever consciously intending to do so. best of luck in your withdraw. i see you already found the addiction forum. i recommend that you continue to visit there and post because it really can be helpful for someone in your situation.
