IBS? Please help. Thanks.

27 male. Good news is I'm not having anxiety. Wednesday the 3rd of November, I had a good day at work, but at the end of the day found out I lost a friend of mine in a car accident. I havnt seen him or hung out with him in a few years. But did run into him a couple weeks ago. He will be truly missed. I was in a band with him for a long time. Good guy.

Anyways, after finding this news, I was a little emotional, but no anxiety. After that, these guys at work have been playing a prank on me, theyve been switching my chair out with a really crappy one. This has been going on for about a 2 months. A prank is a prank, but 2 months thats harassment in my opinion. It was just stupid. But I blew up on my supervisor who was in on it, and spent my evening calling 2 other guys and telling them off, and that this game is over. They didnt know about the loss of my friend that day. Anyways, I was still fine, just a little ticked off.

That evening I had diarhea, and laid in bed, and felt my stomach rolling. The stomach flu is going around, so I got worried thats what I was getting.

The next day Nov 4th I went to work, feeling kinda cruddy. Stomach was still rolling, nothing sounded very good. Went to an IT lunch, ate brocolli and cheese soup, that went right through me... as well as all the other little items I tried to eat throughout the day. That evening I just felt WIPED, and TIRED... at one point on my way home I felt like I was going to throw up for a minute, but I think I was just working myself up thinking I had the stomach flu. But I did not vomit, and actually felt better when I got home. Took my klonopin, curled up in bed and slept like a baby.

Nov 5th, I woke up went to work, was very tired exhausted... stomach was still rolling, had a couple of meetings and had to leave work, I just felt achy and cruddy. Had diarhea throughout the day, but not as much as the day before.

I actually got some appetite this day and ate an entire rotisssary chicken throughout the day and night. But still felt achy and tired and just stayed in bed all day/night.

Woke up this morning Nov 6th, and had a bad poop. Not so much diarhea.. but very loose very very loose. Then my wife told me that my Grandma passed away early this morning. I didnt get upset over it... b/c I saw her last week with my wife and kiddos and my mom, and I prayed to God and made my peace with her and it last week, b/c I knew she was going. I played with her hair, and just prayed to Jesus to take her home. She's in a better place now. She was 98. Died in her home with the care of my aunt and uncle who is a Dr.

Today, I didnt feel hungry, but made myself eat a nutri-grain fiber bar, and a banana for breakfast. And have been drinking lots of sprite lately. I know bananas are good for loose stools.

My question is, do you think this is IBS, or do you think I had the flu? I've had IBS in the past one time, and it lasted for almost 3 months! My Dr. put me on a starch diet. It finally left.

I must say I've been having lots of sinus drainage too... and thought that is what has thrown my digestive tract off. I'm feeling better today energy wise... but just don't want to have diarrhea anymore. Hopefully this is the last day.

Should I go get probiotic yogurt? Get my digestion back on tract? Thanks guys.

Well, first i'm sorry about all of the tension and stress at work.I know how it feels to really not be in the mood for BS or Drama.I also send my best wishes to help you cope with your losses. You know it just may be IBS because of all the stress emotionally that your going threw.I notice myself i have it to when i haven't been eating well and have numerous things going on at one time. But,i have also had the stomech flu which lasted three days and i was miserable. With that you would probably be pukeing constantly and have major upset stomche. You most likely wouldn't get off your couch. So i believe if you can get threw this hard time and try not to think about haveing eigther one maybe you will be feeling better soon. And if you do try to accept it and know it will go away.Hope you feel better soon.Keep us posted.

Your stomach problem could be numerous things like the flu or IBS. The way you OCD about it is just a form of negative meditating.  Daily practice of this way of thinking after a while could cause full blown anxiety.
