Itchy Neck & Blotchy chest

Hi

Over the last couple of years i have found that i am having blotchy skin on my neck that when i itch it the skin flakes off and its a burning sensation, as well i have red patches of red lumps on my chest which itch too.  It gets worse when nervous, stress or even when i have had a drink. Can someone help me with what to do its driving me mad and its embarrasing when i am at work and out with friends.

There are so many causes for a rash like this that it's imperative  you see a Dermatologist.  It can range from eczema, to allergies, to fungal infection and the list goes on and on.  A Dermatologist can rule out all causes before assuming it's anxiety.  Take care.

First thing I would suggest, if you haven't already, is see a dermatologist for an evaluation.  If the doc still can not narrow down a medical/physical cause, then inquire with your doctor about treating this as something related to anxiety.

Many people with similar situations (blotchy redness appearing on the neck/chest) have had success with a beta blocker, like Inderal (propanolol).  It works similarly for people who use it for stage fright, or when talking in front of crowds.

If your doc can't narrow down a skin condition that is causing this, ask about the possibility of trying a beta blocker, or something else.

I have that same issue.  I get it on my neck mostly.  It starts out very red and kind of itchy and hot and then as it goes away it becomes brown and less irritating.  It almost feels like a heat rash or irritation.  I have been told it is caused by stress.  I dont know anymore so I just believe it.  It comes and goes.
I have used some hydrocortizone cream to some effect.  Like the kind you get at the pharmacy (no prescription needed).
