I see an internal medicine dr.. I start therapy soon.. But all I do is worry about the bad things that are wrong with me.. Like muscle diseases etc...
What type of doctor are your referring to? If a primary care generalist, he/she isn't what you need. I haven't done so myself but both my wife and adult son have consulted with psychiatrist (MD = medications) and psychologist (talk about it and work with whatever the MD has prescribed). They have both been helped but not cured. My son, now an MD himself, tries to go without medication, How? Study, Work, Social activities, exercise including running aerobic exercise. My wife still depends on medications abut we are old folks and that too is a driver of anxiety, the anxiety of knowing your life is mostly behind you. Many, I am thinking about it, turn to religion - a belief in god, good, purpose of a life well spent.
I have most of my onw trouble at night where I can expect and get a night full of dream problems - so even if one beats it down in the awake time, sleep can crowd back in with all the problems exaggerated. I'm working on the Lucid Dreaming management approach and have not discussed with any doctor my personal problems. It is clear to me, busy = happy, idle = questions and self judgement/incrimination for some of us.
