No matter what antidepressant you try, it's going to take 6 weeks or so for it to work, but the side effects will start right away. So if you're not willing to make that commitment you need to find a non-medication way to deal with this, which means therapy, probably CBT, and learning relaxation techniques and perhaps natural medicine. Benzos are a bit of a trap, as if you take them regularly they become very hard to stop taking and are an addictive drug. They can help if you take them as needed and then aren't so hard to stop taking, but they don't last all the time like an antidepressant does when it works. I would have tried the Lexapro longer to see if the side effects went away, but Prozac tends to be a bit stimulating and is often not the best for anxiety sufferers, but any of these meds takes time to work and see if it will become tolerable and they all have side effects and are all hard to stop taking once your brain is used to them. Just what you have to be prepared for if you decide medication is the way you want to handle this.
Called the doctors office and talked to a machine of course we'll see?
I was on Prozac for 2 weeks had awful thoughts and worse panic attacks, my doc took me right off it. I am now on Lexapro the past 2 weeks, my anxiety is better but not great as everyone on here will tell you, you have to work through the first few weeks on a new drug.. I am learning that the hard way.. I also have xanex to help me through the rough patches, ask your doc for some, I would think they would give you some to help!! Are you saying your friends are giving you benzos if so, ask for your own!! I know when starting a new drug it can be very hard but it helps to stay busy and not think about it!!
