Paxil worked until . . .

AHHHH! I've been on Paxil for about 4 months. I absolutley loved it (aside from not being able to have some alcohol - when I did - depression city). So I'm on it and it's worked for me. I've gained weight but whatev.

My problem is this: I have my 1 year review coming up for work and now I'm starting to get that level of anxiety I used to get. All the time, mind racing, overwhelmed by the speed at which I throw possibilities at myself.

I've done a great job and I think it'll go well but there's that chance it won't. I've been hoping for a promotion and a raise and that's got me really worried. I deal with day-to-day things a lot better now, but . . . I thought I had this under control but "IT" has come back, or feels like it has.

Help!

Im on paxil 20mg

Two things:

You may need to slightly increase your dose

Paxil does not make everything better, It did for me for a while then I had to deal with little bits of stress that came back, it's normal it means your body has adjusted to the medication.

It's only meant to give you support on your way to recovery, have you trried cbt or councelling.

Goof luck

Annual reviews are a stressful thing for everyone....whether you suffer from anxiety or not. I've been in my field for 20 years, I know I am very damn good at what I do, but that annual review still freaks me out. I feel like I'm under a microscope. And my boss is the type that will never say a word about anything that I might do or not do all year long...and then wham!, I'm blindsided but something I wasn't aware of in the review. Last year, I finally told her that if she had a problem with any aspect of my work during the year, I needed to be told at the time, not a year later when I can't do anything to correct it. She did agree with me that the way she handled it was unfair and the whole thing was over and done with.
You can only control your performance and your reaction, you can't control the outcome of the review, but you sound confident that it will go well, and it probably will.

See my post under separation anxiety....I thought I was under control too...but things happen, things come up that are stressful and we deal with them the best we can.
This forum really helps too. Relax and hang in there!
