Stress

Hi
I have been to my DR for shortness of breath and a dry couch that presents only when I begin to talk. I also tremble within at times.
He said I described a classic case of anxiety. He said stomach acid affect the nerves running around the lung and it feel like an asthma attach. Have any of you had this and the nervous cough?
Thanks

Has your doctor ruled out other causes for the dry cough?  Stress/anxiety can cause you to have trouble breathing, just make sure all other causes are ruled out first.  A dry cough accompanied by trouble breathing should be checked out.  I hope you can work thru this without medication, therapy can be a big help.  But if you can't, you need to view this as any other medical condition for which medication is given.  If we have something wrong that requires medication we take it without a second thought, but when it comes to medication for anxiety we are reluctant.  For many, medication gives us our lives back.  But I understand where you're coming from and do wish you all the best.  Take care.

The Dr wants me to go on Zoloft but I hate taking meds. i am trying to work it out myself.

I do know the stress affects my lungs for at time when I am stressed I simply cannot breath. then it goes away.

this time however I developed a dry couch when taking. I hope that goes it has been two weeks.
No fever so I know its not an infection.

Part of this sounds like it may be anxiety, but I'd want a second opinion on the stomach acid affecting the nerves running around the lung.  I hope you are addressing the anxiety, but get a second opinion on the other. Take care.
