What's this supposed to be?

Has anyone on this forum ever had a psychotic break? What are they like? Can you control or remember them? Are there some people more prone than others? Can some people not have them? I'm afraid of these, as I don't want to harm anyone or myself, please help!! Any answers? Could I have had one before thinking it was a real bad panic attack?

my point was that anxiety does not link to psychosis

Bipolar disorder, also known as manic-depressive illness, has nothing to do with anxiety. One CAN have an anxiety disorder and also be bipolar but the two conditions are not linked.

If you google psychosis and anxiety, the only anxiety related disorder that links to psychosis is Bi Polar

A panic attack is a period of extremely heightened anxiety that is characterized by all the typical features of anxiety, but to an extreme degree. These symptoms include, among many others, rapid heart beat, chest pain, hyperventilating, sweating, nausea/vomiting, dizziness, chills, tremors, a semse of horrifying doom, a belief we're having a heart attack or that we're about to die, etc. A person can feel many frightening emotions and sensations during a panic attack, but they never lose touch with reality.

On the other hand, a psychotic break is when someone goes into severe psychosis and completely loses touch with reality. They do not know what is real and what is not. They often suffer visual and auditory hallucinations and delusions, either of grandeur or paranoia. Psychosis can be dangerous, not only to the person experiencing it, but to those around them.

They are completely different things. A panic attack is a form of anxiety, whereas a psychotic break is an acute psychotic episode, completely unrelated to anxiety.

I would suggest, for right now, you go to the Schizophrenia Forum for more accurate and in-depth information, but I strongly urge you to discuss this fear with your doctor as soon as possible.

Please let us know how you're doing, OK?
Please know that even if you do have schizophrenia, which I think is highly unlikely,it is totally controllable.
