When the sleep effect of Rameron wear off, would dosage have to be increased?

I want to re-state my question here as to clear the confusion. I was prescribed Remeron starting with 15mg. and up to 30 mg. for panic attack and anxiety. I am wondering if this med,. is effective  and for these symptoms. I am scared to use it ,
as I wonder if the sedating effect wear off will you need to up the dosage or does it plateau out  and you can still sleep. Has anyone used the med . and what is you experience?  My psychiatrist said he would up the med. to 45 mg. for some people.

You can get Valerian root and passion flower at health food stores.  Maybe even drug stores.   They are sold separately but sometimes in health food stores or GNC you can get then in a combo pill.   Just ask someone who works there to help you.

Hi,

thanks so much for your help. I was wondering if where you can get Valerian root and passion flower? Do they come together in a pill form? I started taking 250 mg. magnesium daily .

I really can't tell you if it helps my anxiety because I also take klonopin.  I would try natural remedies first if you are only having sleep issues.  Some that come to mind are magnesium, Valerian root and passion flower.   Those also help with anxiety.  If you have a panic problem klonopin is a good option. But even though klonopin helps with sleep initially, that effect goes away pretty quick.

Hi,

Thanks for your comment. It helps me to make up my mind what other choices of med. I need to choose. Remeron helped me to sleep for just one day, it has been two days now it has not helped me to sleep nor does it  do anything for me or for my anxiety.

Hi.  I have been on remeron for 5 years for sleep issues.  Remeron is a different drug than most.  The higher the dose, the less sleep it induces.  To avoid weight gain and other side effects like daytime sleepiness, my dr. started me on 30 mgs.  After a couple of years, I slowly weaned myself to 15 mgs.  I do find my sleep was better at the lower dose but I have been on it so long now that it really doesn't help me sleep any better.  Maybe a little but I do have some nights that I don't sleep as well or even at all.  At 30 mgs I was having restless leg type symptoms but that went away when I cut back to 15 mgs.  I hope to wean off it some day but right now is not a good time because I have alot of personal issues going on that tend to cause me some anxiety.  I have heard it is really hard to wean off.  That you have to go really slow.  So hopefully next fall, I will be weaning.

Hope this helps.
