Thanks both, I was still awake for sure....its like my ears were buzzing and just as I was trying to sleep again I could kind of make out the ringing noise, but not 100%. It just freaked me out! So you think thats normal?
Gee, you're turning into a real "blog hog" like some of our friends!
I take it you did not "hear things" before the night you called your housemate to shut up. I am going to assume that during the day, you don't hear things. And you state that what you heard, as you were trying to go back to sleep, was your friends phone ringing.
I'm going to take a wild guess here that instead of TRYING to fall back asleep, you actually DID and dreamed the phone was ringing. This makes pefect sense to me and unless you are "hearing" voices coming out of the drains or people talking in your washing machine, YOU should also assume this was a one time episode brought on by the stress of your friends snoring and you losing sleep. Buy your friend some of those nose strips that help people not snore. My husband uses them now and for the first time in 20 years, I actually sleep through the night. You could also get some good ear plugs.
Please note that snoring can be the sign of a problem and you might want to suggest to your friend he/she get it checked out. Many people who snore loudly have sleep apnea and it can be quite dangerous.
As to you thinking that you've gone around the bend and are now "hearing things" is utter bologne!
I wish you luck.........and some sleep
Peace

Relax, that's not "hearing things" (aka...auditory hallucinations). That's basically a sensory memory. Sounds, tastes, smells that are familiar can sometimes make an unscheduled appearance in your senses without really being there. Sometimes they can be triggered by a memory, thought, or another sensation that reminds you of the sound, smell, etc. Yours was likely triggered by you having just heard it, especially during times of sleep or attempted sleep. Our senses can get a little confused during zzz time. It's absolutely nothing to worry about.
Now if you start hearing random voices telling you to stick a muzzle on your snoring roommate, then you have cause to worry. :0)
Hope this helps!
