You're welcome............but what I want you to hear, loud and clear, is that getting yourself educated about HIV is the best thing you could do for yourself. Then you could educate your friends and they could educate theirs and pretty soon everybody could stop freaking out.
I'll give you a little head start in HIV education. There are three (3) ways you can contract HIV.

1) Having UNPROTECTED sex with an HIV+ partner.
2) Sharing drug works (needles) with an HIV+ person
3) An HIV+ mother to her unborn child

If you're not in any of these categories, then chill.
And for all of those "but what if" questions, like "but what if I have oral sex" or "what if I get a needle stick" or "what if the person drawing my blood at the doctors used a dirty needle."
If you take the time to learn about HIV, you will learn the answers to all these questions and a hundred more.

You only have to really know ONE thing.
ALWAYS USE A CONDOM.
Peace and happy sex!

Have you posted on our HIV Prevention Forum? If you have, then you've been told you did not have a risk and do not need to be tested.

Twice you stated "I ALMOST stepped on a used needle, " then you said "I DIDN'T step on it."

I also live in Seattle and I know what the weather was like 3 weeks ago. I know you would have been wearing shoes. And you'd have to be pretty crazy to walk around ANY city barefooted.

If this needle HAD punctured all the way through your shoe and into your foot, you would have had to sit down and extract it from your shoe. Did you have to do that? Even if you did step on, it would have been lying flat on the ground, not sticking straight up...........it would be virtually impossible for it to puncture you.

If it had punctured your foot, you would have felt pain and there would most certainly be some sort of puncture mark. Did you feel any pain? Was there a puncture mark on your foot?

Even if the needle HAD been used by an HIV+ person, by the time you stepped on it, (?) the virus would have died fron exposure to air. Even if it had been full of infected HIV blood, it would have had to puncture your shoe and miraculously insert itself into a vein, the plunger would have to be depressed and then removed from your shoe, but the virus would still be dead. Air and time would have killed it..............can you not see how far fetched this is?

I work in a hospital. I work with hundreds of other people. Over the years, all of us have stepped on needles, nobody has ever had one puncture their shoe and enter their foot.

You need to do one of two things. First you need to get yourself educated about HIV and just how difficult it is to contract. If you knew enough about HIV, you would not have had to write to this forum. You would have known, without a doubt, that your risk was zero.

If you can't believe or trust what you read, then you should get into some therapy for your HIV anxiety.
If you can't  get this under control, you're going to live a very fearful life. And that would be a real waste.

You did not have a risk
You do not need to be tested.
You DO need to get educated.

There are no "what if's................."
Peace

have you always had obsessive thoughts about any illness or is this the first time? seems like you have a small amount of anxiety its really important you get it under control now before it merges into other areas and you find yourself paniking about everything ! (abit like myself!) maybe just have a test done for HIV when you are told by a health professional you dont have it this will stop these worries
