The beta blockers are taken every day to regulate one's heart rate. Mine has slowed considerably since starting one. You might also try breathing into a bag. I'm not sure as to the cause of your fast pulse but getting your breathing regulated might help because once you feel your pulse is high, you are probably becoming over anxious. Try mental imagery too! Hope this helps.
I meant to say my blood pressure is normal.
Sorry for my bad English.
Thank you so much for your answer!
My heart rate is actually pretty normal, it's just pulse that's extremely fast!
So if I'd take beta blocker day before I have to check my pulse, would it help?Or do you have to take them regularly?
I'm so worried, I'm studying biology and it's part of our lab to measure our pulse rate. I can try to hold my breath, but I don't think it will help when my heart's beating so fast!
Any other ways how I could slower my pulse??I'm desperate cause that lab is obligate!
I have this problem too and was recently diagnosed with tachycardia which is a sudden surge in your heart rate. Mine was clocked at 160 bpm once. I always thought I had heart problems but it has since been confirmed that this accompanied my anxiety disorder. The doctor treating me said that when I feel that heart racing feeling to hold my breath while pushing down through my bottom (I know it sounds weird). It does work. I also take a beta blocker to help slow my pulse; Coreg. Best wishes.
