anxiety (itching attacks) Nerves

many years ago i had itching attacks, and my doctor gave me some sort of nerve/anxiety pills. they worked well trying to find out what they were as i am having the attacks again i believe they are brought on by exessive stress.
my attack are severe to moderate i some times wakeup scratching it usually starts at my hands feet and head and travels all over there are no bumps or whelps or hives in the begining i try my best not to scratch but i cant help it i scratch till my skin swells into whelps/hives and then i keep scratching ive been scratching for an hour so far this time.
                  what anti anxiety (nerve pills) meds are good for this???????
i was 19 the last time i had them im 38 now so please think old school this drug would be uses 20 years ago........

I have the same problems. I use cortizone-10 plus cream on mine and it works great. My doctor told me it's a form of eczema(spl?) that arises with stress.  I drench in a good lotion and use the cortizone, works for me.  I'm also taking lits of vitamins now to help. St john's wort, b-complex, multivitamin are some I take.  Hope this helps!

I am having the same sort of issues, noticing that when I am agitated for an extensive period, at some point, I wake up with the horrible itching, started on my behind and traveled down my thigh, no rash, no bumps, but the more i scratch the more welts and hives appear, cream doesn't seem to help.  I am aware that i am under a lot of stress with a marraige going down the tubes to an alcoholic husband, I have also experienced, trembling chills (even when not cold) including uncontrollable teeth chattering, inability to focus, loss of appetite, rapid heartbeat, and sudden flush or overheated feeling...  I am starting to think I am having a nervous breakdown, but my mental capabilities are not completely out of whack.  what can i do to alleviate these symptoms?
