How long has your husband been on Zoloft?  I was on it 3 years ago for anxiety and deprssion and just recently went back on it very recently.  When you first start this type of medication, it can tend to make you more on edge and actually cause a little more anxiety. For some people, it helps if they take it in the morning rather than at night as well.

Depression caused me to lose weight and I did not sleep very well at all.  With my anxiety returning I have become a little more depressed and have not had a good nights sleep in month, so in my experience, this can happen.  Has your husband discussed this with his doctor?  What helped me in the past and is currently helping, is talking to a therapist about it and having a good support group (like this forum).

Hello, I have never experienced depression or anxiety, but I currently have been sad about my dads death. I know it effects my sleep, (as you can see), and my appetite has changed too. It would seem to me that depression could effect your sleep, appetite, etc.. Probably could effect alot of things in your life. I think depression it self could do all these things alone...not necessarly the medicine. However I wouldn't be suprised if the medicine played a role in that also. I hope he gets better soon! Sending good thoughts your way.
