anxiety....virginia
I have what seem like electrical sesations that go down from my neck to the bottom of my spine. They really scare me. The back of my calfs also ache. Also, my white blood count is 13,000. I have been told it is anxiety.....but I feel so bad and i am scared. I just does not feel like anxiety and is making me feel so scared.
I have been on Lexapro .10 daily for 1 month and xanax .25 for anxiety attacks. I am just really scared how I feel. I have fullness in the back of my neck and head...which could be anxiety. I can say that I do not need to use the xanax as much....just 1 pill a day...
but if the sensations would go away i know my anxiety would come down because they scare.....I am trying to believe it is anxiety. Just too much stress....thanks for helping me.

Are you on any medications, or do you have any diagnosed medical conditions?
If you've had a thorough work-up and everything is coming back okay, then chances are, it is anxiety. Anxiety can cause a huge range of very real physical symptoms. It's very hard sometimes to accept that these sensations are not based on a medical problem. It's difficult to imagine that anxiety could cause these feelings, but it does.
The important thing is that you keep working with your doctor...and start addressing this as possible anxiety. The great thing about doing that is that once you start managing your anxiety, any related symptom will subside.
Your WBC is really not that high. Typically the high range is 10,000. A result of 13,000 is not concerning...it could be related to a viral infection, cold, anything...even if you don't have related symptoms. Plus, those values will fluctuate a bit. You could always ask your doc to recheck your labs at your next visit, but again, it isn't worrisome.
