chest pains is definitly a symptom of anxiety, but rule everything out first
A chestpain can come from muscles in the respiration "apparatus" - muscles that supports your breathing. It is very easy to panic the first time the pain sets in, but it is important to remember that not everything has to come from the heart. The pain is something your SHOULD mention to your primary health care provider, because it is a sign/symptom of something.
What you should do is:
1. Mention it to your GP - an EKG might be suggested
2. Try "loosening up" your chest muscles and breathe with your entire chest+stomach and not only upper part. This can be done with some armswings and a straight back.
3. Don't take painkillers for it.
4. Shoulders up under the ears and a tensed jaw makes costal tensions even worse, so take a few deep, relaxed breaths and straighten your back by "lifting your sternum" (chestbone).
5. Maybe your GP could refer you to a physiotherapist to help you do the correct range of motions? (this is called psychomotoric physiotherapy)
It is one of the worst pains, and if you don't know what they are and what they come from, it is a horrible kind of pain. Do either way mention it to your GP. Like Remar says: Better be on the re-assured side about the heart.

chest pain seems to come with anxiety for alot of us. you really need to get this checked out by your dr. though just to make sure it is'nt something else. don't ignore chest pain even if you have an anxiety disorder. it's better to be safe than sorry. the only thing that helps me is to try and control my stress level. please get it checked out and if it's your anxiety then you can go from there, therapy and maybe antianxiety meds. take care and let us know. remar
