gagging while eating

lately I have been gagging and often to the point of actually throwing up.. is it possible that I am stressed out or what could it be? It has always happened but lately seems to be getting worse. I have tried narrowing it down to certain foods but that doesnt seem to help.

You need to visit a doctor, concerning your question.  To make a long story short.

My experience began one afternoon, when I gagged on food, and continued to gag on food, until I was only able to eat can soup and baby food.  I only threw up once, after drinking water.

My throat would swell up, then go away, so the doctor tried to convince me it was anxiety, but I knew it wasn't, and I kept pushing for testing.

One afternoon, I started gagging on chicken noodle soup, only this time I had to be ambulanced to the ER, my throat was swelling.  The ER doc did a CT scan of my throat, I was given Bendadryl, and that's when my enlarged thryoid was discovered.

Throat swelling (allergies) & enlarged thyroid together, caused me to gag on food, my thyroid alone does not bother me, but when my throat swells from allergies, applying pressure in the area, it get's very hard to swallow, even saliva.

Hope you feel better, and get answers soon.
