I find that if I concentrate on my breathing I have troubles breathing. When I first started meditating and you have to concentrate on each breath I would hyperventilate. I find that an anxious person whatever they focus on becomes their issue. If possible dont think about your breathing at all. Pre-occupy yourself.

Its crazy because as I type this I am thinking of my breathing and typically its bothering me now!

I also learned slow breathing techniques and relaxation methods. Lucinda Bassett at the midwest center for stress offers an amazing at home program. My dad purchased it for me shortly after my divorce...Being alone in a house so often really made things harder for me...It was a real life saver...I am not sure but maybe they even offer something online! thanks. I only worry about my heart and breathing when im alone or not focusing on something else. Its real annoying an i wish it would stop
About 9 years ago I had this same problem. I would have anxiety attacks all the time. I would stop and feel my heart and check my breathing. I watch a few of the, Attacking Anxiety and depression and learned how to slow my breathing. It worked! No anxiety for 9 years. You can control it.
