is Propranolol a good med for anxiety?

i take prozac and love it after 20 years of trying everything else…long/short, it helps with all but ANXIETY so she prescribed me Propranolol? just 10 mg 2Xs a day. i worried about ALL the side effects tho, should i be?

As far as evidence goes, the only problem this has been shown to help with are those with heart palpitations that are real and not imagined and those with social anxiety.  Prozac isn't the best antidepressant for anxiety because it tends to be stimulating, so I'm guessing your main problem is anxiety.  Only trying this drug will tell you if it will work, but it certainly was never approved for this purpose.  It does help some.  It doesn't appear to help most.  And when you take a drug designed to one thing for something else, well, it's still doing the other thing too and you don't need that.  But when all is said and done, nobody can tell you if it will work or not because you're the only you.  If you don't want to take it, try something else.  There are even natural remedies that might help especially since most of your problems are being dealt with successfully by the Prozac.
