I can't get my old doctor to refill my script for xanex. I moved out of state, have called her twice and she hasn't called anything in. I don't understand why she would put me on this regimen for three years and then ignore my calls. I have two appt with a new doctor so why is she ignoring me? Anyway. I have 18 pills left and have no choice but to wean myself off. I normally take one .25 pill three times a day. So any suggestions how I can get myself off them safely with 18 pills left? Also, what can I expect while going through this process?
Although it is possible to wean yourself off Xanax, it's a REALLY risky thing to attempt on your own. Xanax can be a very dangerous med to come off if not done properly. No body on this forum who knows anything about Xanax would advise you to go it alone. I would suggest you browse this forum for advice from "Ryan," who also goes by the username "RCA...." or something like that. His photo logo is a thumbprint, hard to miss. I secretly suspect he is a pharmacist or a psycologist or perhaps even a doctor, but he knows his meds and has posted a detailed plan for withdrawing from Xanax, but you should still not attempt this without the surpervision of your doctor! And if you think it's OK to do this by yourself because you were on a small dose for not very long, it doesn't matter. Do not risk your health.
Good luck

In my experience in weaning, I describe it as tingling in my hands, espec.
Wouldn't surprise me if thigh pain is listed...
Are you working with your Dr. on the weaning? You definitely want to do that - very important.
Good luck!!
