Swelling near neck

I seem to be the only one in the world with undiagnosed neck swelling. It is like a puffiness above the clavicle, soft, but not a mass. Doc's can't figure it out. I have had it for 8 mo.
I also suffer from severe posterior neck pain, and bilateral shoulder pain- Anyone?

Sorry, made a typo error...i meant to say that the doctor told me it would have come from some kind of injury from my neck or shoulder, even if it was NOT a direct accident....if could just be some kind of injury. (not direct accident, meaning like a car accident, etc).

Well not sure if my swelling is the same as yours, but it is in the same location, soft tissue but not a mass as well. I too have severe neck problems and shoulder problems due to spinal stenosis and herniated discs. I was worried one day and my doctor was not in, so I saw a doctor I never saw before. He felt it, and right away told me it was fluid. He told me it would have come from some kind of injury from my neck or shoulder, even if it was a direct accident....if could just be some kind of injury. It has been there for years, and I'm talking many many years. It never goes away. Sometimes I do think it is more prominent when I look in the mirror, but ever since he told me it was not dangerous, I dont worry about it at all anymore. Good luck.

Don't know, but celiac disease can cause thyroid issues.  I have celiac and have Hashimotot's thyroiditis.  It caused a nodule near / on my Adams' apple.  The doc did a FNA (fine needle aspiration) on it to determine the status.  Pretty easy, he just stuck a small needle in the mass and send the sample for testing.  No pain at all..
