Age 70 Breast lump

I went Wed to have an ultra sound and mammogram.  The report says all is well.
I am uncomfortable with that. I had a lump years ago and was aspirated and then the lump
removed to be sure.

Good for YOU ...this is a wise move. When it's removed and the Pathology report is in you will know what it is. I also find it more than strange that a palpable lump would not be evident on either of the tests. The letter from the hospital would have been based on the written results of the Mammo and uS ... that's just a routine thing that bears little weight. Congrats to your Dr. also ....  Best wishes

My Doctor finally called himself and told me he wants me to go to a surgeon to have the lump removed.  His reason is that both the Mammogram and Ultra sound did not pick up the lump.  He said that is strange and so it must come out.

Again... My Doctor's nurse told me all was well and the hospital sent me a  letter stating the same..Thankfully I will pursue this... and get help... Most would be thrilled with a report that held no water... The Tech felt the lump... when she looked at results... she should have questioned the non results and taken steps to find an answer.

Thank you for responding.  It has been difficult getting a straight answer.  I am requesting full records of test results and going to a new doctor.  I appreciate your understanding when I was wondering if I was being too suspicious.  It's nice having some where to go for help.  This is a good thing.

The reason I couldn't understand why you weren't happy with the "all is OK" was that you didn't mention the new lump in your first post. ... So, taking that into consideration I would suggest that you do get the details of both reports from your prescribing Physician. I don't believe that not matter what the lump appears to be the "all is OK" is not an appropriate comment. Until you get the reports word for word I wouldn't put much stock in the comment by the tech. If it's there this it is something ... quite possibly nothing to worry about but you need to get a definite answer and your Dr. is the best source for that. You are correct ... we lose way too many women to this dread disease even though great advances have been made. Keep asking until you are 100% comfortable with the answer ... Kindest regards ....

This is a new lump in my right breast. The other lump was in the left breast and that was in 1978.  I found it strange the mammogram did not pick up the lump... It's the size of a large pea and hard..  The tech commented, thank God we do self examination.  I have not been told what the lump is from Ultra Sound ....Just that it is ok.

The last 6 years I have been assisting 2 friends through stage 4 Breast Cancer. Both were told to wait... one had to go back for more surgery because The surgeon did not get all the cancer.. I have spent a great deal of time discussing cancer and what should have happened.  I am happy there is a report all is well... but from what I have learned in recent years is that the only way to be sure is a biopsy. It was sad to see all the mistakes made on my friends. I am seeking a second opinion to be sure. I pray all is well.  I do healing work myself and will be working on myself in the mean time...

If both the Mammogram and Ultrasound showed no abnormality I'm not quite sure why you are not comfortable with the results. You indicate that the lump you had previously was removed and there would be no evidence of that on these films. Unless you have a lump in your breast now I would be OK with the present results. You might discuss in detail both reports with your Physician if this would make you more comfortable receiving negative exams.   Regards ....
