stereotatic biopsy

I just had my stereotatic biopsy and it wasnt a very pleasant experience.  I have to wait till wednesday to get my results and today is Friday.
I don't have breast cancer in my family and I have calification seen on my mammogram.  My doctor is telling me there is a 10 to 20 percent chance it could turn out to be cancer.

Not sure what to think about the 10 to 20 percent and what chances I may fall under.

Hi,
The waiting for the pathologist result of your biopsy is the worst part of all.
The best advice I could give you is to get as busy as you can,so time will go by faster...Meet your friends,go to movies, shopping and do the things you most like. This is something that unfortunately we all have to go through and I sure know how it feels.
Most biopsies are found to be benign and your doctor is correct.Don't think about cancer right now, because you have a good chance that it won't be.
Keep positive thoughts and try not to stress yourself by thinking the worst.
I really hope that you'll get good results, and please let us know about it.
Wishing you the best and good luck...

As someone who's been through three biopsies, I just want to say japdip and zouzi are
100% correct in their responses. None of the three different types of biopsies I had were pleasant but not really horrible either. Waiting for the results was the worst part of every one. For me it was hard to turn off the little voice inside your head that says, "Someone has to be in that 10 to 20%; what if it's me?" But you need to really try to turn it off and just take one day at a time. Try to keep positive, get whatever support you need from family and friends and pamper yourself a little. You can deal with what is, when you know what is. I'm hoping it is benign and sending you a big hug (    ),

I think most women find the biopsy experience less than comfortable. The wait you describe is about usual for biopsy results .... (4 to 7 days) for most institutions. Your Dr. is right on about the chance of cancer in the case of calcifications. If it is though this would be a very early stage since no lump was demonstrated but only the calcifications. The waiting is always the worst and when it comes to investigation for BC there is a lot of waiting so do it as calmly as you can, stay busy to help make the time go faster until you get your results; please keep us posted when you receive them.  Regards.....
