Hi,
You first need to get an ultrasound and mammogram done to find out the type of lesion and then probably a biopsy would be suggested.
Removal of the lump without any investigations is not the usual lan of management. talk to your doctor about this and consult a breast specialist if required.
Do you have any other symptoms like nipple discharge or skin changes on breastt self examination?
Let us know about what your doctor tells you and also if you have any other doubts.
Hope this helps.
Regards.
Has some type of biopsy been recommeded or does your Dr. just intend to excise the lump ? Also didn't you have a mammogram ? It seems the path you describe is backwards: unless your Dr.knows that the lump is a cyst. The usual procedure is Mammoram followed by some type of biopsy and a referral to a surgeon. At any rate whatever tissue is removed will to go Pathology and will be tested to show exactly what it is. Cancer is most often found as a result of finding a lump but a lump doesn't just turn into cancer.
