Loreena is probably pregnant ...
Hello friends
Loreena Mc Cat is a stray cat that addopted me this year,I did all the possible to ignore her feline pleading eyes since Im broken and unnemployed but for sure I couldnt and started feeding her.
I would not stand ad the poor dying from starvation near me to some other personal problems of mine.No way
I t was the only I could/can do at that/this moment. She used to sleep at the neighboor's empty house (to make things worse now they are refurbishing the house- but this isnt a real problem cos I have a big backyard that she likes the same.)
Problem is she was changing her behaviour,too much quiet ,but feeding and drinking ok.Vet came to see her yesterday, I was not suspecting of pregnancy since shes very young , never noticed she will be ready for and
HAD TAKEN ANTICONCEPTIONAL,there's a big chance that big belly is carring some unnexpected furry gifts for me;
Now i'm half calmer (at least would not be sickness)-half not.All I can do now is wait and keep in contact with that vet
And feed her even more, (she is hungry all day long)´post and learn here eventually.And start looking homes for the babies- wish me luck! Much luck!
I will have lots of doubts since I always loved cats but never had one, just read a few magazines.I will be searching here frequently.Seems like my folks from Eye community will miss me for some time
All support on line will be welcome.Answers, sugestions,comments - I barely learn how is to be mother of a cat, I'm not prepared to be "GRANDMA' at my age ;-)
ONE QUESTION - CAN SHE REALLY EAT ALL RATION SHE WANTS? IT SEENS TO ME SHE IS INSACIABLE.EVERYTIME I OFFER SHE WANTS EVEN IF SHE ATE TIL ABANDON THE POT. I CANT LEAVE THE POT FULL ALL THE TIME' COS THERE ARE OTHER CATS IN THE NEIGHBORWOOD; HOW MUCH RATION DOES SHE NEEDS ???(DRY ONE - PREVIOUSLY SHE WAS EATING ABOUT 200GRM - BUT ALWAYS READY FOR MORE)

We need that - animal rescue associations are few and quite poor here in Brazil.Dont think move to here will be worth of.No one is powerful enough to vigilate Hollywood movies or so,like the ones you have.
I always though exactly the opposite, cats are more popular in USA, O should be there.
Opus, you dont need envy me- just pay the "mailing" expenses and I will be very happy in sending you a cute new one if they came ;-)

WOW, you get a free vet visit if you pay for one???? That would NEVER happen in the US. HMMMMM, should we move to Brazil? LOL
Apple, I have to agree that you really should keep Loreena in so that she doesn't get pregnant-if she's not now. You can make your home safe for cats, right?

Let me explain better. I dont know how things are in your country, but here we used to have a second appointment for free after paying one. Its void for a month and called RETORNO , maybe would be calles FOLLOW UP MET in English.
Humans doctor do the same.

could it be what is called an 'initial examination?'
If you are not for sure that she is pregnant it would be a very good idea that you keep her inside and away from all other cats especially males!
if she isn't pregnant now she will soon be unless she has been spade.
I wish you luck and hope for you both that you can get a free vet visit there.

Problem is that is very hard to believe shes pregnant now - specially today shes quite "athletic" and belly doesnt seen soo big now.She's all big - but not fat.
And keeps a strange relationship with some cats around - she likes them near and look for - but its all.. No "meowing party" ,no love (not that I know)- and everytime I hear a cat meow is from the other, not hers.
Guess she's a real princess and the sudits came just to see her :-)

No babies yet - I started believing it was false alarm
In meantime someone tried to poisoning her (bacon with rats poison), the stepmother (me) had some terrible moments after the shock but SHE DIDNT EAT AND ITS SAFE AND SOUND! THANK GODNESS!
Lost her rabies vaccine time, smart one.I Cant give her til knowing about the babies for sure..
Btw, got home for one baby.A good one were kids are waiting for and the person is my friend.

I'm afraid Thomas will have to answer your questions abt the medication.
I just wanted to say how great it is of you to take this poor little one in and give her a good home....it is a hard thing to do when money is short, so just do your best dear and she will love you with all her heart.
Make sure and let us all know when babies come and God I hope u can find good homes for these poor little creatures as well.

When I told you I can count with a vet here means i can call her and i have one return ( not sure how do you say this in english - the new met for free during a month).She is kind (vet) and don't charge toooo much to see Loreena at home, both things extremely needy for me.
The girl is lovely but not exactly "domestic" and and transporting her would be a hell!
"Bout the food,its dry cat food , I cant give you the name 'cos my cousin was bringing that for me from her shop' and they sell it shop packed - I can ask her but not sure if will help since must be a brazilian product.For sure is not the best ( I wish it could be) but probably is not the worst since she loves pets as well. Doesnt have cats,however- just dogs , fishes ,birds (including a rooster);
Did a fast search about Science Diet.I dont think my vet will know about
Could not find info about slams .What is this? If t use capital letter got a interesting answer but for sure is not what you mean.
I completely agree with you about overweight, and since i personaly am slim,always avoided giving as much as she wishes, even shes not being fat.Pregnancy changed things a little bit,but I will take care,Also because if she is NOT pregnant,obesity can cause other troubles ,,,
BTW, I forgot to ask the vet if I should give the cat the second pill for worms (Pretzil -for cats about 5kg) L.took the first day 10 because we were suspecting of worms before calling the vet .2nd dosis was suppose to be 15 days later

I would find a good premium kitten food ( not sure if Iams or Science Diet are available in Brazil...you might ask your veterinarian) and give her the recommended feeding on the bag.
Just like with us, too many calories will cause her to become overweight and that is not a good thing during pregnancy either. So, I would portion control and try to feed her 2, 3 or even 4 times daily.
