Yeah well no vet has commented on his weight but my friends and family have. He is a very energetic cat and I go by what is says on his food as to how much to give him
My cat is 5.8kg as of his check up last week. Our vet said he looked great but not to let him get much bigger. He has been this size for years now so I'm not to worried...Ask your vet what they think.
Joy was already 5kg last time I took her to vet, Lucky was almost there. They are 1,5 yo and vet said they were not overweight yet but I should start some light food
I didnt , no money for tries but Im keeping my eyes on then and playing with them when possible
Loreena is just 3.500,she have episodes of lack of appetite just like her stepmother and I can see ribs easily but no vet said is underweight til now
He went to the vet not long ago and they didnt say anything about it.
If the spot that is dangling is soft and can be pushed back up between his abdomen muscles, it could be that a weakness in the muscles of the abdomen has let a little of the stomach protrude into the skin. But if it is just garden-variety tummy, he's fine. Many, many kitties have that. Definitely ask your vet, if there is any sense of the first thing. But he sounds pretty normal to me.
He has always been a bigish cat. He is very long. and his general structure is a bit bigger then a normal size cats.
My sister calls that "underhang." Did Whiskey weigh more at one time? I have had kitties who toned up and got more exercise, and their underhang went away, but for some kitties, it is just part of life. 10 lbs. is not generally fat for a cat, but if he has a smaller frame, it could be just a little bit. Feeling the ribs is a good sign that he is not. I would ask your vet at his next check-up, just to be sure Whiskey doesn't have a hernia or anything like that.
