kitten scrape

my 1month 2weeks old kitten got a scrape or something on her head yesterday. i think its because my 3yr old cat was playing with her. i think it got worse than before coz she has been playing a rough kitty fight with her siblings too and coz of mama cat grooming her. worse is, it seems to be itchy coz she kept on scratching it whenever she remembers that her head is itching! and so the wound became not so good looking. she's all well except for the scratching thingy that she was doing that make her do a different meow whenever she's doing it. i applied diluted betadine but any advice fellas? should i just wait for it to heal on its own (or will it?) or will this become serious problem that will need a trip to the vet? im currently looking a loving home for her but before that i need her to be in perfect shape :( see photo attachment

just by visual. I've done countless of research about ringworm and hot spot as soon as jade told me that this could be ringworm and after the vet told me that it was hot spot. hotspot and ringworm has almost the same symptoms except for ringworm which is contagious. i believe that it is really a hotspot, it supports my hunch since none of the kittens caught weird spots and neither i. its been 3 days already so if it is really a ringworm, maybe we should have it by now? but if it really happens that it is indeed ringworm then what should i do? (i'll probably blame the vet lol) but the cream he gave me probably solve it too since its antifungal anticeptic and antibacteral. but thank u, i'll be aware about the ringworm and keep observing, i'll keep u guys posted if what u suspected is really the culprit :)

PS - the spot on the kitty is starting to dry along with the small wounds due to her excessive scratching before :) hope the hair will grow soon!

I can't remember if my vet used that lamp or not!  But, the vet saw that I had it so severely and took one look at our cat Oreo's ear and knew that I gave it to him.  He was my fave kitty when I still lived w/ my mom.  He used to sleep with me and that's probably how he got it.

And, yes, no exaggeration-I had that 40+ on each arm.  The lesions went from my wrists to my shoulders!!  It was the worst case my dr had seen.

ZQ, thank you for that link.  I saw most of those pics, only separately.  Yikes, 40 places on each arm??  How horrible for you!  R. and I had it once from handling a stray kitten.  I only had it 2 places on my right arm.  R. had it, too.  My supervisor at the bank I worked at at the time liked to give people nicknames.  Until the day I left that place, I was R*** Ringworm!  lol

Cat...I separated a link from the link ZQ left.  Many of the pics look exactly like what we are seeing on your kitten, but this one the most.  Shoot, nevermind, the link when copied and pasted was a mile long.  Do look at the pics though - see for yourself.

Did your Vet use a "Woods Lamp"?  Or just go by a visual?  This really does look like ringworm.  Unless my eyes are playing tricks, I definitely see a 'ring', don't you?

Hi, I agree 100% that this is ring worm.  I had it once from a tanning bed AND gave it to my cat!!!  YUP, you heard right!  I gave it to my cat!  That's what I get from frying my skin in a tanning bed!

If you don't get this taken care of ASAP, you're going to have a nightmare on your hands-you and your other cats could get it.  And, if you let this go, it can turn into cellulitis.  Cellulitis needs anitibiotics and the next step from that is sepsis, which is life threatening.  I had 40+ places on EACH arm.  It was not a fun experience.

I am attaching a link with pics of what ring worm looks like in cats.

yea vets are never cheap lol. but right now they are my responsibility so i have to do the right thing for them as long as i can. nope, i asked him if its a ringworm, thanks to u haha^^ but he said it wasn't so yea. and if its a ringworm, the other kittens must have it by now and also me since its contagious as u said. though the hotspot and ringworm has the same signs. the vet gave her a shot, he said its to neutralize her system or something then gave me anticeptic-antibacterial-antifungal cream. and its safe even if the mama cat groom her and the other kitten came contact to the little one :) her imune system was probably weak thats why she caught one. now i have to wait for her to get lively. im feeling impatient and overly conscious about her

Thank you for the update!!  I was just thinking of you!  I'm so glad you were able to find the means in order to get this kitten to the vet.  I know they are expensive.  I assume the Dr determined it was not ringworm?  What is being done for this 'hot spot'?

omg ringworm?! I've read the article and yea it sounds alarming :( there might be a possibilities that she have ringworm. though its not that of a red and I've been handling her this whole time and I'm fine and so are the other kittens whom she was playing (though yea ive read there can be no sign but one is actually infected) and about the shiny thing, it's just in the picture^^ I've notice that too and checked every corner of her body what was caught on the cam but I saw nothing lol.
right now it's 3am and I'm checking on her (she's actually beside me and she's sleeping) now then if its a ring worm I might get really contaminated! but.. I can still observe right? *sigh~ yea a vet will solve everything.

Hi again....I was looking at the pictures more closely, and I see something that appears wet and shiny on the inside of your kittens leg.  Would be his right leg - left one in pic.  Could just be this pic, but could also be something..?

Hello.  From what I can see in your photo, this looks like RINGWORM.  In your photo...on the upper left of the 'wound'...see that distinctive ring?  If this IS ringworm, either your other kitties have it, or it is a coincidence it showed up after playing.  Ringworm is Very Contagious to both your other kitties and YOU.  This is a fungal infection and needs to be treated by your vet right away.

Check out the link below.  It's the best I could find.  Once you're at the site, scroll down.  There is a photo of ringworm on a human arm.  Make sure to read the article.

well all i know is she got that wound due to playing with the others. i dunno maybe a bite or a scratch and became.. omg infected o.o i know its the best to seek the vet and all but *whispers~ i dont have the budget yeeeet.lol.
so other than waiting and observing her (i really do hope it heal on itself) im looking for possible things to do :) i will sleep with her from tonight but during the day, i cant isolate her. they eat solid food now so maybe an overnight without mama cat milk should be ok right? oh btw she was the mama cat who had calcium deficiency due to pregnancy lol

Hi CE,

She is adorable!  To be on the safe side I would take her to the vet. These things can become infected IF it was caused by a cat tussle, and that is not good for a Kitten who is still developing an immune system thru mom.

I am not sure it is a cat scratch it looks to uniform and flat to be a scratch. Just my Opinion

But she needs to see the vet for antibiotics and something to keep her from scratching it and making it worse.
At least keep her from the other cats until this is taken care of, K?

Let us know what the vet  says!
