Is CHOLESTEROL 96 mg/dl unhealthy?

Last Feb. I had routine blood tests that included the following results.  I ate well, no red meat but some cheese and 2% milk; and exercised daily.  I thought the test results were pretty good.

CHOLESTEROL           172    MG/DL      0.0 - 200.0
TRIGLYCERIDE           47    mg/dL        0 - 150
HDL-DIRECT             70 H  MG/DL       40 - 59.0
LDL-CAL                93    mg/dL        0 - 130
VLDL                  9.4    mg/dl      Ref: lt = 30
LDL TOTAL DIRECT       91    MG/DL      5.0 - 100.0

Last month I had a stent inserted to open up a 95% blocked LAD.  Blockage discovered by means of a nuclear stress test, no MI.  On doctor's orders I cut out warm blooded animal fat and started on 20 mg generic Lipitor.  My current test results are:

CHOLESTEROL  96  mg/dl  (<199)
CHOLESTEROL.IN HDL 55 mg/dL (40-60)
CHOLESTEROL.IN LDL 34 mg/dL (<99)
TRIGLYCERIDE 33  mg/dL (<149)

Is it unhealthy for these results to be this low?  I am a 72 YO male.

Ray

In May of 2003 I had a stent inserted in my right coronary after I was discovered to have had a minor heart attack in October of 2002. For the past 12 years my cardiologist has had me take 20mg of Crestor daily and two capsules of Seacor 1000mg; additionally I have been taking two capsules of 1200 mg of Omega 3-6-9. My blood pressure is 130/80. My cardiologist has said my condition is stable. My last blood test had the following results: total cholesterol 96mg/dl, cholesterol HDL 26mg/dl, cholesterol LDL 34 mg/dl, triglyceride 181 mg/dl. My cardiologist, noting the 96mg of total cholesterol ( the lowest I have ever had, last year it was 126 ), recommended that I stop taking the 20mg of Crestor daily  for 4 months for fear that my total cholesterol may be too low. At the end of these 4 months he suggested i redo the cholesterol test. I am a 70 year male. My What is your view? Thank you.

No, it's fine especially at you age. I would retest in another couple months and make sure it doesn't get much lower. What did your doctor say about it?
